:DL.

Personally I've stopped reading daily horoscope in any form since 2002 when it didn't help me one bit when I needed it. Help came from elsewhere then and since have made the realization or considered that daily horoscope a scam. But I admit that Zodiacs are interesting to read(not the daily horoscope) if you take it as a culture or art instead of a mysticism. Everybody loves to be associated with a symbol I guess and what that symbol represents.

I was born a Virgo, I'll die a Virgo.

I'm a Virgo, too! Clearly, the sustained fusion reactions of gaseous spheres in the void that govern our destinies have fated us to be together; all twelve or whatever of them. What are the odds!?

Sadly, we cannot be together this day, my love. The stars have dictated that today is the proper day to ask for a promotion, despite the fact that I'm on vacation. If there were any day my boss would not look at me as if I'd grown a third head when I simply ask for a promotion, despite having taken absolutely no instruction for a higher position, this is that day.

Fear not, my star-crossed soulmate. Once I have acted upon the wisdom of the learned astrologers I will seek you out and be better prepared to care for our many children.

Try being a Libra in a relationship with a Gemini - it's like a threesome, without all that pesky infidelity stuff.:D

My life experience thus far has shown that when it comes to relationships, the zodiac is a crock of s**t. I say this because my ex, was of a sign that was most compatible with my own, and my Fiancee's sign not so much.

And yet, my with my ex we weren't that compatible, hence, she's the ex. My Fiancee on the otherhand, we are so much alike, the running joke is that we were seperated at birth.

So yeah, zodiac. What a crock.

without reading the article, is it about the change in the axial tilt of the Earth from the time the zodiac was written down to current day?

Besides, the zodiac is demonstrably a load of horse**** even without this nail in its coffin.

If you read the whole article, the whole thing is just a lot of meaningless hoo-ha over nothing, even to astrologers. The cited reasons for the "shift" don't affect Western astrology, which is what we're all talking about here.

But this is an annoying red herring for astrologers.

They point out that this precession only affects "sidereal" astrology, a system commonly used in India and by other people with an interest in "Vedic" astrology. In this system signs do shift.

"People might be Aquarian under the tropical system but a Capricorn under the Vedic system," says astrologer Russell Grant.

But in the "tropical zodiac", the system used by Western astrologers, there are fixed sectors of the sky through which the movement of the sun, moon and planets is tracked to create the basis for horoscopes.

"The tropical zodiac is fixed and immovable. It is static - whatever happens to the Earth's axis."

These sectors of the sky use the equinoxes as reference points, not the constellations upon which the star signs are based.

The suggestion of a 13th sign - "Ophiuchus" - is also dismissed by astrologers. They point out that the Babylonians consciously chose 12 signs.

In other systems there have also been signs for "Arachne" and "Cetus the Whale", notes Grant.

Both the effect of precession on the zodiac and the presence of a 13th sign are stories that crop up in the press every few years, Grant explains.
But for all those people that believe in astrology or set some kind of lesser emotional store on the signs of the zodiac, they can rest easy. The Tauruses are still Taurus and the Arieses are still Aries.

Two Virgos in the same relationship? Surely you jest. Even I'm not that crazy. :haha:

Is that not how this works? Frack! I'll bet it's like that damn Chinese zodiac with dogs being compatible with horses or monkeys or whatnot. With all the easy, one-size-fits-all, lame-ass excuses guys come up with to get women, you'd think one as old and popular as the zodiac would be more easy to use.

Okay, maybe virgos aren't compatible, but I am on a horse.:smug: What do you think of that?

frau kaleun
01-18-11, 12:03 PM
Yep, in the Chinese zodiac, though, it's a 12-year (not month) cycle and typically the signs that are 4 years apart are considered most compatible with each other.

Rat, Dragon, and Monkey
Ox, Snake, and Rooster
Tiger, Horse, and Dog
Hare, Sheep, and Pig

It's further complicated by the fact that the Chinese year does not start on Jan 1 like the Western calendar year, and IIRC also by the fact that the actual start of Chinese New Year varies from year to year. So despite some of the charts so popular on Chinese restaurant placemats, being born in, say, 1964 does not mean one is a Dragon (which I most definitely am) - it depends on whether or not your birth "made the cut" for 1964 in terms of the Chinese calendar.

Edit: sorry, right, horse, very nice. OTOH you might want to rethink the assless chaps. :hmmm:

Oddly enough, Aquarius is not a Water sign. Its element is Air.

In the language of origin I'm pretty sure that 'virgo' does = 'virgin.'

I, however, do not. :O:

I didn't even check to see if my sign has changed... I'm so used to being a fiery battlegoat that any change to that would ruin my life. :O:

However, given that the change to certain astrologies or whatever is due to a wobbly planet, I would wager that someday, many thousands of years from now, it will all come around full circle and our signs will be normal again.

There is a solution to this problem, of course. If we detonate enough nuclear devices on one side of the planet we might be able to correct the wobble and preserve our star signs. :yeah:

ehhh ?? Aquarius-> aqua-> water and in ym language it translates into water bringer... maybe it has to do something with rain. Nah, zodiac doesnt make sense anyway and I refuse to have my fate dictated by alignemt of stars, goes against my freedom of choice.

But there was a interesting event. I got into a huge argument with a friend of mine, he finnaly hit the nerve with his trademark infernal advocacy of trivial things and it resulted with me and him not speaking to eachother. And the next day it wrote: PISCES you told him what was coming, do not regret your words :hmmm: true story

frau kaleun
01-18-11, 06:24 PM
Yep, Aquarius falls under the element of air.

The three water signs are Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio.

Aquarius is grouped with Gemini and Libra as an air sign.

Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are the fire signs, with Virgo, Taurus and Capricorn making up the earth trio.

The elements (earth, wind, fire, and air) in western astrology are metaphorical in nature and relate more to the qualities associated with a sign than to any literal correlation (despite the apparent literal nature of some associations).

I usually get on very well with air signs, particularly Aquarius and Gemini. I don't go looking for people with those signs, far from it, it's not something I even think about unless the topic comes up. But there's no denying that when I look back over my life the people I've "clicked" with the best at different times have almost all been one or the other.
