British Transport starts out, as it always does, with coal routes, where the money is. A slight mistake is made by spreading out on a 0-6-0 goods loco, a little too early for such running costs, but it gets the coal there faster.
Coppernobs are used for the remainder of routes, and three six-horse carriages are used on a subsidied route for some extra coinage.

The Coppernobs were too unreliable, so they will be phased out in favour of the Cramptons.

Meanwhilein the middle of nowhere, a lone Patentee trundles backwards and forwards with the name 'Slow Freight' written on its tender, going nowhere and doing nothing but losing money.

Lady (of the lake) class
Meanwhile, TransArc folds, only to be reborn anew and shoot up the leader board like a rat up a drainpipe, Slow Freight is renamed to Fail Transport but undergoes a reorganisation and manages to start scraping a small profit in some areas. Unscrupulous Enterprises flounders under an ambitious ferry scheme, is renamed Bankrupt Industries and abandoned. Thomas Hogarth!!! flees to Switzerland, gets some money from the Swiss mafia and starts again.

Yes, we run some addons that add more rail sets,Road vehicles, Aircraft/Airships and ships.
and some addons that adjust the looks of towns and cities to be a bit more proper for the timeline.
the locomotives are really expensive, and in this timeline you really have to keep check whether the train you just built is making money or is costing you money. Also I noticed that some locomotives become more expensive
first for me a Crampton costs £19.000 and now they cost £22-23,000.

Much to my surprise, the years had advanced in my departure, by about five in fact, so I was rather lucrative, the loans were all paid off, and the locomotives upgraded from Cramptons to Johnson Goods class as the Cramptons were now getting rather unreliable.
A new locomotive is now on the scene, the '2-2-0 Edwardian', aka the Midland Railway 1000 class:

Bonus points if you get the real names of these men and what they did. :yep:
I do have one request though, if a person has to leave the game early, can we not continue the game without them, as I think it is a little unfair. After all, they cannot respond to new vehicle offers, they cannot replace old vehicles and they cannot expand. Yes, they will gain money, but if their fleet becomes ancient and unreliable then eventually they will begin to dip and perhaps even lose money. Furthermore, if one of their vehicles is destroyed, they cannot replace it.

I think I lost 5 trains in 3 separate collisions (One of them going into the wreckage of the first collision), which would add up to 20 killed.
I believe Task Force lost three trains, two in the head on collision and then one more coming out of the depot into the collision, so 105 plus 4.

Copy and paste this in the on top of the Data folder located in the main folder of OTTD
in that pack are most of the addons we have enabled, just a few missing which are easy to find in the in-game modlist
go to NewGRF (this is also where you enable the addons*) then click on the button which says Search Online Content a list will be shown and you just have to tag the ones you need and click download.
*Read carefully, there are some various versions in that data pack so make sure you enable the right one
in case of the UKRCS we use 0.7 which is shown in the description of the mod and the Addon pack

That shouldn't happen as the depots have their own signals built in (they act as pre-signals) unless you ordered the trains to run the signals or something. Though this being multiplayer maybe lag is an issue.
Road vehicles are always at risk at crossings if they are slow and dealing with fast trains. I usually either tunnel under or bridge over the track to avoid that.

The buses don't stop at rail crossings?
Either that or the train is faster than the bus, thus it catches the bus mid-crossing.
NeonSamurai

They stop at crossings, but trains often catch them while mid crossing (later stage trains are way to fast for vehicles to safely avoid). Safer just to bridge or tunnel over the track.

Yeah I'd check to make sure proper privileges are allowed for OTTD then go from there.
Right, I've defragged about seven times, cleared up some more free space and told the firewall to allow OpenTTD. If it still goes laggy I don't know what the heck it is. :hmmm:
I've pondered at something that might have changed. I did upgrade the drivers on my graphics card on the laptop....so I will system restore back before then and see what happens.

Decided to set up an MGR (Merry go round) system with all my freight services, apart from goods, it works quite well.

Wouldn't mind a 40 and a 50 too, maybe a tug as well :)
A Whistler would be lovely, and a Hoover, remember them going out of Waterloo in the 80s. A doughnut would be nice, but they're a bit too modern for me, my diesel likings range from the Southern Region in the 80s although I do love Cans and the odd Ying because of their use on the GEML which is where I now live.
UKRS updated last week, there's the Super-Skoda, Turborat and Electrorat in there now as well as a Steamer, the Long Boiler:
http://users.tt-forums.net/pikka/wiki/images/7/7d/Longboiler.jpg
A Vomiter, Dusty Bin, 325, Britannia and Plastic Pig are in the works. I'd love to see a Thumper put in there too...would go just lovely on the Southern map I'm doing right now, early EMUs all over the place, waiting for the 4CIGs and CEPs to come out now.
I miss the old slam doors...

Yes,
you could say Raptor is quite busy changing the shape of the European Continent.

Lesson One:
When working on or about the line, always remember to put equipment back where you found it – such as points, for example (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCbOUgr_r-E).
Lesson Two:
On single line tracks, ensure you have the token before moving your train (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMGySun2PMU).
If you aren’t sure if you have the token, don’t move
If there isn’t a token available, give up and come back tomorrow.
Lesson Three:
Beware of poor track. Be prepared to stop quickly in the event that you notice something amiss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPzo9cm0IqU).
Lesson Four:
There will be days when you don’t actually need to be working to make a Horlicks of yourself on the railway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNaKyssVsFs).

It's not OpenTTD but it is railway related. Just knocked up a few reskins in Trainz today. Not bad for my first attempts I suppose. All liveries that are shown here have never been carried by the locomotives they are on :03:

Be grateful we didn't start in 1801...there's only horses to pull coal wagons, they don't make much money and the ships suck. Finally got my first locomotive in 1802...this thing:

By the mid 20th century Britain will just be rails and traffic jam.
That's pretty historically accurate... :yep::har:

March, my asthmatic donkeys! March to (slow) victory!!
Huzzah! A new rail vehicle has been invented! My asthmatic donkeys can be upgraded to Three-legged Ponies!

But before the Three-Legged Pony could make its proper debute, two Asthmatic donkeys tried to occupy the same stretch of track...it didn't go well...

These trains are VERY expensive though, as are horses.
I could really use some guiddance when it comes to placing signals (and the correct ones) when I have multiple tracks going to a single tracked station. Also when I have a single tracked station, with trains arriving from both ends..
Parked trains at red signals aren't really making any money.. :nope:

Always try and run dual tracks? Other than that, I figure a passing loop every couple of kms should at least keep your trains running. Who've thought my RL job would come in handy for a game? (I work in railway industry)
Have a look at the OTTD wiki too. Pair of good railway constructions articles when it comes to stations and signalling.

My advice, if you have the money do a 4 rail system 2 going one way, 2 going anouther, and put signals telling the trains what way to go every 8 to 12 grids.

You know when you have a coal subsidence in OTTD when you have disasters on? And if it hits your track it removes it?
