"The Devils of the Deep" are getting ready to kick off another U-Boat campaign within the next few days. If you're interested in joining up and taking down some Allied shipping PM me with your SubSim name, career name in SH3 and your u-boat number.

We do have certain conditions though.

1. No outrageous super-subs!! The only game play mod currently allowed (and required) is GWX and SH3 Commander. You can have all the "eye candy" mods you want. I personally like "Torpedo Damage Final" and "Life Boats and Debris v4". To all those who assisted in their creation .

2. You can play at whatever realism settings you like. However we base your ranking for your "End of Patrol" award on your realism setting times your total tonnage sunk. At the end of each patrol you'll have to send in your patrol report.

3. All communications will be done through encoded enigma messages, preferably in German (excuse me, "...auf Deutsch...bitte"). After you learn how to code & decode with the Enigma Machine.

4. At the Devil's of the Deep HQ there's a tracking map where you'll have to list your U-boat's position at all times.

We're trying to portray a fairly accurate u-boat campaign. Things will be tweaked here and there as necessary; but everyone's welcome!

This sounds a fraction too hardcore for me right now...

Unless you're recruiting Kamikaze sub-captains? I could probably manage that.

Maybe when you are more experienced you can join us.

Care to elaborate more on this?

Sounds like a lot of fun. Just wish I had the time.

As in the War of the Atlantic BDU assigned and knew where each U-Boot is.

We do the same. Our Devils U-Boots whether in port or at sea we know their status because they place their Boots on our (Interactive) Location /Tracking Map. This is done every time they make a change in direction. Their U-Boot is shown as an icon on the map with a line showing their rout. You can see the map by clicking the Devils HQ link under my signature and then clik on the U-Boot tracking Link.

I'd certainly like to join you once school starts again. I've been hoping to run a real-time career over the semester but I'll have to find a way to smuggle my desktop out of the house. Whether or not my roommate will tolerate depth charge explosions in the middle of the night is going to be a big factor too.

I don't know a bit of German either. Other than maybe...uh....well, Berlin is in Germany, right? :D
Maybe someone has a list of phrases somewhere that I can just copy into different places to form a coherent report?

i do believe they use Google translator mate. :salute: Although I find that google translator (from my personal experience in German class) does use correct word to word translations it does not do literal translations so well, because in Deustche their wording becomes switched around.

For example, if in German say you said "I want to call you", because the ways the words are arranged and typed that phrase in in German and clicked translate it would come out something like "to telephone you I would like" but in German it means "I want to call you"

They might use a slightly better one however

Google translate is a cheat though, real U-Boats never had access to...oh right. I guess I'll have to use Google translate. Sorry, I'm trying to be funny at 3am with a bad head cold. Hope it worked.

Seriously though, I'd really love to do this. What sort of timeline would I be restricted to?

I do believbe a month per patrol?

We're trying to do a patrol a month; but if you finish early you can end the patrol and request new orders.

If you're just coming in for resupply (fuel and torps) you'll still end the patrol; but I don't think you'll need to report it right then...just at the end of the 30 days (in game time).

If you want to join the Hardcore send me a PM with your U-Boot number and Captains name. We use VIIC.
