View Full Version : Question about stopping your boat...

I did some tweaking with S3D (Great program btw!) to my Tambor class boat.. Somewhere was a 'SkipJack' mod which gave you superboat, this was pretty much like it, I had surface top speed of 85 knots and submerged top speed of 60 knots or something. (These days they call them F1 boats.. :hmmm:)

Yea, I admit it was nice to run down destroyers while submerged and just turn your tail and run away or shoot aft torpedo but perhaps with RR's subnuclear torpedos mod it was too easy. I had sunk 11 ships in first mission objective (some go sink merchants) and I decided to go back home. Luckily I saved here.

I was 50 miles from Pearl with time compression of ~3100 (way too much...) And speed of over 80 knots. Well, my comp barely runs that 3000 time compression anywhere, when I arrive to pearl where is other ships I'm screwed. So I was just watching the map with 0,5 FPS while my boat ended up to other side of that damn island :har::har:. When the "death cam" stopped and I saw my boat.. :nope: It was standing on aft and leaning to some tree.. :D (I loaded and did it again, this time with way lower time compression and switched to 'Back Emergency' 300 kilometers before the pearl xD)

Anyway let's get to the topic, is it possible to set your reverse speed with modifying some files? Or is there some brakes in submarines?

I know that I'm 'a bit' raping the idea of Submarine Simulation with my modding but isn't the meaning of the game to be fun? :D

Thanks in advance and happy hunting everyone! :salute:

Go to Data\Submarine\NSS_Boatname\NSS_Boatname.cfg open that up and at the bottom is the Engine Properties section. You can adjust the numbers found there to change how much of your boats power is used at a particular speed setting.
