Just got off the phone with my mom and learned that my very close cousin (the hobbit one) passed away half an hour ago.
He'll be greatly missed.

Dowly, that is simply horrible news. You and your loved ones have my condolences. I am not sure that much of what I can say can truly be of any sympathy at a time like this, but my thoughts go out to you.

He was hospitalized on Thursday due to bad cramps and his condition kept getting worse since. Eventually his kidneys and liver shut down gradually. It's now suspected he had drunk poison vodka. :nope:

Sorry. He's in a better place.
Right, the police have made their own autopsy on him now, don't know how long it takes for the results to come back. (or for me to hear about them for that matter)
It's starting to hit me slowly but surely that he isnt coming back.

I understand, mate. It's been that way for me, off and on, in the eight weeks or so that my mom's been gone.
I won't tell you that it gets better, because it doesn't. It just gets a little easier.

It just blows so hard, he never had a good life, always something bad happening. Few years back he was pretty much an alcoholic, lost his job, lost his wife etc. Now that he finally learned to control it, this **** happens.
But we got plenty of great memories of him. He was the kind that got along with everyone, literarely hundreds knew him in this small ~25.000 people town, his facebook account got swarmed with "R.I.P." messages just hours after we the relatives knew he had passed away.
But the most saddening thing is his 10yo son, they were like gods to each other. And his "Why you had to die" message on cousin's facebook was just heart-breaking. :-?

Yeah, I know it, friend. My mom's facebook page is still "hers" and not a memorial page yet because I just can't do it; it's too raw a hurt to take that step just yet. And like you found out, my mom had friends and a life I never even knew about - people came out of nowhere to be at her funeral. Like him, my mom died way, way too young, and it just ain't fair. It falls to us who remain to have the life we wish they could have had; that's all we can do.
You'll carry memories of him the rest of your life, and you'll find some joy in that. But nothing will ever take away all the hurt, either. My thoughts are with all of you right now.
Wow, the 10-year-old kid thing really takes it to a new level of sad. That's just really tragic...

I know where you are. I felt the same when my father died, although I had six days time to prepare for it when he was in coma and it became obvious that he wouldn't pull through.
It's a very strange feeling between emptiness and hatred against an unknown target.:-?

Having lost too many great people in the past decades, I can only confirm this.
BUT these feelings also gives you strength, as dumb as my stupid words may sound now. IF death has any sense, then it is to feel life more intense - in the positive and negative way.

May his soul find shelter in the hand of the Creator - and may you and the rest of the family find comfort in the joys that you shared with him. My condolences as well.
Guess I post a little update here:
Like I believe I said earlier, forensic's going to do the autopsy, which is now done. Results take 3-6 weeks, depending how fast they find the cause of death.
He (Marko, or Make as everyone called him) was cremated on last Thursday, urn will get here next week.
His ex-GF (I think) and mate, has rented his favorite pub for our use for 12hrs on the 5th, we'll have a short "memorial service" there our style and get wasted (nothing less he would have expected I am sure of that) while remembering him.
As for his official memorial service/funeral, he hoped that Metallica's "Mama Said" would be played IIRC. Suits perfectly with the relationship they had. Gonna be a though funeral, I can say that.
Anyway, waiting for the cause of death, got three possible ones I'd rather not say here.
Back when I know more.
Cheers,
Dowly

At my mom's funeral wake, I learned of a tradition she and her brother had carried on for years at family funerals. They would gather together away from the not-direct-blood family for one "in-the-family" toast to the departed, a glass of scotch. My uncle and my mom did this for their parents' funerals, their uncles and aunts - all the family funerals. He pointed out that this was the first time he had to turn to one of their kids to complete the toast, as he was the last one left. So, this time, my uncle and my sister led the scotch ritual.
So, on the fifth, Dowly, I'll be having a glass of scotch to Marko, and to you and your family, as a way of salute to all of you.
Anyone else care to join me at the bar, for our SubSim friend?

I raise my glass to Marko! When we drink to the dead here, we always spill a little on the earth, to honour the gone, so did I.
I also drink to us living, to a long and happy life and to not forgetting our dead friends! Kippis!
