View Full Version : Word of advice... Dont install AS radar

Thats about I've had enough with the time compression interruption. I prefer a standoff with the friggin birds, even simulated surprise attack on my boat, as in real life, rather than to get reports every one minute. I cant get out of midway without actually humping it out in real life time. Is there anyway to downgrade the air search radar? As in removing it from the sub? having no AS radar? I got flood of report spam, that I actually ALT+TABed out into this thread.
Advice anyone? Is there a way to do it without affecting renown?

Try shutting it off when you're near a friendly port.

You say air, do you mean surface radar, as usually near ports very little plane traffic. Obvious you can't cut air off, but I always cut surface off near friendly ports
.
Best near ports to run only as much TC that doesn't cause mass lag.
If you're leaving port, you have an option to start outside the harbor away from all the traffic....use that option instead. It places you outside the ports contact zone.

Yes, planes have nothing to do with it. It's your surface radar (SD radar) that is the culprit. Turn it off until you're offshore enough not to be interrupted. The SJ air search radar is innocent here.

Its not that. At start, when I had the option to install it, I didnt. I had few radar contacts, for 3 patrols. Maybe it was my third patrol, or start of fourth, that my brain got stupid to drag that doodoo to my sub. I guess I got what I deserved :damn:

I donot start at tender. I only start at 1000+ deep water. And yes, its a question about cancelling an upgrade, from 1 to 0.

Well, you'll get less radar plane contacts and more visuals, hope you can dive fast.:D

Just out of curiosity, doesn't turning off the radar shut down both SD/SJ radars?

No. Air search is always on, unless it is under water.

Thats not a problem considering I always move at decks awash, diving takes less than 20 seconds. I've trained my crew:yeah:
And they realise perfectly its hazardous not to have Airsearch but prefer not to get in my way. Guess its sort of skip Muldoon and the gators gang in hitman. Of course, without the faggotry:D

not to be nitpicky (even though i totally am at this point), but SD is the air search radar, SJ is the surface search. Just sayin'.

You travel the oceans decks awash, how do you keep your speed up, not to mention loss of fuel.
Did seem that in stock the ships ran almost on top the waves :D

Yes, I was referring to the S radar. Not the SJ.

Of course not. I only travel in proximity to tokyo or objective area at decks awash. I even patrol at ahead slow surfaced, only when at shallow waters since I could order a quick turn in calm seas...

They're is a small mod that reduces air traffic in stock, think one of Websters...

I recommend keeping the SD radar and getting this mod. It drastically reduces air traffic to a more realistic level.
