A shame, he was quite a distinctive and well traveled actor.

RIP.

Definitely someone I'll miss... he's one of those actors whose presence will make me stop and watch a movie I might otherwise have passed right by. I've adored him in everything I've ever seen him in. There was something appealing and attractive about him no matter what the role.

RIP Pete.

Wow, I had no idea he was so young! He was brilliant, though, and accomplished a lot.

I'm not suprised his passing is the top story on the BBC news channel all today.

RIP Sir

Oh please, there's way more to appeal and attractiveness than just looking like a GQ cover. :yep:

Well that may be but I just fail to see the appeal and attractiveness of an actor who plays a homicidal maniac that talks into his hat.

What'd he die of?

What'd he die of?

Cancer.

He brought a weight to any role given, and will be sadly missed:cry:

That's too bad. Five years younger than my dad when he died of the same disease.

Apparantly Terry Pratchett based Commander Samual Vimes on Pete. I would have liked to have seen him perform in Guards Guards :D

Cheers

Well, he was born in Warrington in '46 which back then was a part of Lancashire, but is now a part of Cheshire. Accent wise, he was pretty good at getting most Midlands and Central regions on par.

Garion, I can see Pete Postlethwaite as Sam Vimes, he would have made a damn good one too. :yeah:

Now that's one I hadn't heard. But it works.
