Approximately how long can a sub stay underwater?

At full speed I've noticed mine will last about 20 min at approx. 8knts. Will this vary on power useage?

At 1 third speed you can be under for hours , dead slow a day or till you run out of air then it's game over. You must conserve grasshopper.

Duly noted. I was chasing a sub and was wondering how long it could stay submerged before having to surface (to the delight of my 4in deck guns). Now I know waiting is probably not going to be the best strategy

It's hard to take a sub with guns in Destroyer Command and even harder in any of the Silent Hunters enemy AI gunners will give you a sub full of holes
