An unauthorized aircraft entered restricted airspace over the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC., Saturday, prompting an evacuation of the Capitol. The inbound aircraft, a Piedmont Airlines flight from Hilton Head, S.C., was first spotted in the restricted airspace at 1:30 p.m. As a precautionary measure, buildings were evacuated and secured, said the U.S. Capitol Police in an email. The FAA said it lost radio contact with the aircraft as it approached the area, prompting the North American Aerospace Defense Command to scramble fighter jets out of Andrews Air Force Base.

Piedmont eh?

lets see... their average FO makes about $20K a year and they are actively hiring pilots with as little as 300 hours total time and fewer than 45 hours instrument experience... go figure.

when things pile up the captain gets overworked and things like this hit the headlines.

and when things pile up they do so by leaps and bounds this time of year in the northeast.

I have seen it a hundred times if i have seen it once.

too bad.

if it was a new hire FO he is fired without any union intervention.

though they both may have their licenses suspended or revoked... most of the "blame" and certificate action will likely fall upon the captain.
