AMC?

Sorry, this may be a very silly question. I have just been given the "Blockade of germany" assignment, to sink one carrier and 5 "AMC" ships... what exactly are AMCs?

While I'm at it... is there any real value in requesting missions as oposed to simply following the campaign objectives on your own initiative? The patrols it gives me seem to always be in rarther low-traffic areas and I am unsure what rewards you get for completing one.

Taking the patrol missions earns you renown points and promotion points as far as I'm aware.

You use these points to equip your boat and skill your crew.

I beleive you also get points from tonnage sunk without taking a mission (maybe not as much).
