Sen. Tom Coburn says the U.S. could face 18 percent unemployment and a massive contraction in its economy that would destroy the middle class if it does not get its fiscal house in order — warning U.S must contract spending to avoid 'apocalyptic pain.' Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., who recently issued a report on government waste, warned that the U.S. only has about three or four years to get its fiscal house in order or it could find itself facing austerity measures seen in Greece, Ireland, Spain, Portugal and earlier in Japan.

he is not entirely wrong.

but most "leadership" these days is of the apocalyptic "do this or creeping hell monster people will walk the earth and eat your babies alive." variety.

I get so tired of being told that the world is ending. Just get on with it already.

Given their track record (http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl2.htm) I stopped paying attention.

Creeping hell monster people? Let's file those under "terrorists".

I wonder what the dictionary definition of "terrorist" actually is in America these days?

the book definition? i assume your kidding :haha:

but just in case... i would imagine it is much the same as everywhere else.

Terrorism: the systematic use of terror as a means of coercion.

Terrorist: one who engages in terrorism.

thats a chuckle. the very people who have allowed the middle class to come into decline, all so the the richest could prosper, are now calling for the middle class to be fixed.

But if the republicans sincerely want to fix their mess, and this time bolster up the middle class rather than foolishly spouting off "trickle down" nonsense, then more power to them

Yes I was joking
Or rather I was trying to make a smartass comment about the way the US government label just about anything they don't like as "terrorism".
I think their definition goes like this:
Terrorist: one who engages in terrorism.
Terrorism: that which is done by terrorists.
;)

I saw your comment and thought, surely they wouldn't miss the opportunity to throw the word "terrorist" in that sentence!? It's like the new "communist".

Who here believed in Y2K? Nuclear holocaust? Commie takeover? Saddam's bio-weapons?

Nuclear holocaust?

Came relatively close to happening at a number of occasions.

Commie takeover?

Happened to quite a few countries.

Saddam's bio-weapons?

I thought there was substantial evidence of an Iraqi biological weapons program, at least in the early '90s.

but none of these ever happened.

the "commie takeover" idea caused things like "the red scare" a shamful time in america

Y2k was a joke

and the LIE of saddams bio weapons has cost us trillions of dollars, our public image, and thousands of our young.

the nuclear holocaust was real though. and a democrat pulled us out of it.

Yea, knows how to control people with fear and guilt.....some anyway. Got to love these elitist types, control spending by making corporations richer so all that wealth can trickle down to the chinese middle class.

It's a specialty food, right on par with deep-fried beer. Chocolate covered bacon is a favorite around here during the State Fair. :yeah:

I think I gained forty pounds just typing about it. :o

Hmm, I'm currently playing SimCity 4 after a long while. My "problem" is that there is a huge demand for low income housing, but all the buildings are middle or high wealth class, and thus, too expensive. This is due to low crime, clean neighborhood, good education and health services.

So my advice is: Keep good care of your sims and the non contributing zeroes (poor people) will have to relocate to Detroit.
