Hey guys today I think I'm going to purchase a GTX 460 for 199.99
and a 600w power supply for 90 bucks.
Here are my current specs
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20 GHz 2.20 GHz
Ram: 3.00
Realtek sound sytem
:)

Does everything seem good to play SH5 at a fairly high graphics setting? I notice my Processor is a little low, is that ok or will it wreck my gameplay. Thanks

If by 199 you mean £199 then i would say your way off.... for starters overclock your processor to say 2.8 so it does'nt bottleneck your new card, then completely ignore the 460GTX.

The 470GTX is far more powerfull and can be had for £169+, the ATI 6870 is a better card still and can be had for £189+, The ATI 5870 which is again better can be had for £187, and the card to beat them all is the ATI 6950 which can be had for £199, the same price as you proposed 460GTX.

Basically any of the mentioned cards will laugh at the 460GTX.

Before I even jump into this. Capt. Warner are you in the USA ?

Second ... give mobo and ram specs. OS would help too, to get the whole picture.

I doubt your playing "I've got s secret" It's just that it gets wearing to us to ask the same old questions.

We want to help and see you get the most for your dollars. :yep:

"Laugh"?

Overclocked 460 almost matches a 470 in most situations. Only thing standing above it then, excluding the next gen cards, is the 480, 5870 and 5970 (which is a dual GPU card). It hasn't had any competition at all at it's $200,- price-point and is still excellent bang-for-buck.

Hardly something to laugh at, under any circumstances.

OT; more information would certainly be appreciated. :yep:

Yes, im aware a OC'd 460GTX can near match a 470GTX, but then you can OC the 470GTX.....and so on..., but no, the 6870 is a better card performance wise eg. DX10 Vantage: 460GTX=12454 / 6870= 16120 and basically vastly superior in all games.

Both the 5870+6870 can be had for a snip at under £199 and give excellent performance @ 1600x1200 res+ i would take either before a 460GTX.

True the 460GTX is a great mainstream card, and undoubtably the best card out of the first Fermi range, but it has been bettered, by the newer ATI mainstream range.

Point being that you make it sound like a 460 is a waste of money, which it isn't.

The reason I say an overclocked 460 can easily compete in it's price-class is because all 460s are essentially underclocked, to increase chip yields. Any 460 should be overclocked imho.

With it (granted, potentially) matching a 470 or 6870 in performance while costing less, it's far from a bad choice.
