Can't get to Square One on Installation

First, I didn't see a tech support forum, so I'm here.

OK, two problems:

(1) Installation

This is an older laptop (HP dv5-1002nr) that should have the muscle to play this, about 3 gig RAM, video I didn't look up, should be fine. I have SH4 on it. Runs Vista Home Premium.

Go to install SH3 from the original box, got the key, etc.

Go to install and: "1628: failed to complete installation."

Launches a "Get new settings" box, try again, same message displayed.

I didn't see anything standing out on the Vista thread.

Procedure? Suggestions? Anything?

(2) Forum password

I had the site email me a new password. I go to change my password. I enter the emailed PW that worked fine to log on & I get "PW invalid", meaning the current string that was emailed, I'm pretty darn sure.

What? What? I copy & paste, I type it in - still the same message.

WHat the heck is going on?

Well, in case this is returned on a Search - clean the CD. I had a good packaged cleaner kit, so I was lucky.

If any mod or admin wants to pick up the second one, I'll check back. I can always just keep having new PWs emailed, I guess.
