A-well-a don't you know about the bird?

Well, everybody knows that the bird is the word!

A-WELL A B-BIRD BIRD IS THE WORD, BIRD, BIRD, BIRD IS THE WORD :woot:

Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen is currently at No 3 in the UK xmas chart, behind Rihanna and Matt Cardle :D

And I think it was used for a Bird's Custard commercial in the 80's :o

I hold the distinction for being the only person in America who does not think that Family Guy is funny.

I've seen that one too. I tried to give the show a chance, because a lot of people, my wife included, love it. For me, I think it comes down to the same thing I say about Curb Your Enthusiasm, which is that it just seems that the writers are trying too hard to be funny, and getting the opposite result. Of course, the styles of humor are very different in those two shows, but I think the approach is the same.

I only like all the chicken fight stuff.

Other then that?
I don't watch it.
If I do watch? It's something on YouTube that grabbed my attention.
My attention span is..............

You're both wrong. There are more of us than you imagined. On the other hand, I also dislike South Park. A lot.

The Trashmen have been on tour in Europe this year, maybe this explains the new popularity. They still kick butt!

Southpark > Family Guy - maybe I don't get the many (US) cultural references in FG, while I get more in SP or the Simpsons.

And barbarians who don't like Curb your Enthusiasm shall be punished by drinking a case of Jones' broccoli Halloween lemonade! :arrgh!:

I think they are, you just can't see them clearly.

Anyway, to quote the wiki:

Built on a modified Battlefield 1942 engine, Battlefield Vietnam had many new and improved features from its predecessor. The game gives the player a variety of weapons based on the war. Various contemporary weapons and concepts are featured such as the AK47 assault rifle and punji stick traps. It also has several additions to it, such as air-lifting vehicles and, while in a vehicle, playing the vehicle's radio, which featured 1960s music. Players can also replace the vehicle soundtrack with their own music tracks. Surfin' Bird was one of the tracks. First place I heard it in fact, so whenever I hear it, and:

Creedence Clearwater Revival - "Fortunate Son" (opening theme)-As a reference to Platoon (film) and Forrest Gump.
Edwin Starr - "War"
Martha Reeves and the Vandellas - "Nowhere to Run"-As a reference to Good Morning, Vietnam.
The Troggs - "Wild Thing"
Rare Earth - "Get Ready"
Canned Heat - "On the Road Again"-As a reference to Tour of Duty (TV series).
The Guess Who - "Shakin' All Over"
Count Five - "Psychotic Reaction"
Deep Purple - "Hush"
The Kinks - "All Day And All Of The Night"
The Kinks - "You Really Got Me"
The Box Tops - "The Letter"
Jefferson Airplane - "Somebody to Love"
Bobby Fuller Four - "I Fought the Law"
Budapest Symphony Orchestra - "The Ride of the Valkyries"-As a reference to Apocalypse Now.
The Trashmen - "Surfin' Bird"-As a reference to Full Metal Jacket.
Jefferson Airplane - "White Rabbit" (Menu theme, instrumental remix)-As a reference to Platoon (film).
I think of Battlefield Vietnam and the Vietnam war. :03:

I always cranked up the volume in BF:V whenever Surfin' Bird came up in the playlist. Suited the gameplay nicely. Many of my neighbors begged to differ until I pinged them a few times with DW. :D

Have the same thing with any track from the original Tour of Duty album. :yep:
(first album I ever owned, on cassette)

Less so with "Paint it Black", ironically. :hmm2:

Anyways, good that something that actually qualifies as music imho is still popular. :yeah:

That show is definitely miss or hit with more missing than hitting.

Sometimes the waiting through the misses is just not worth the occasional hit, in my opinion.

Yea, kind of like all the reality crap that is thrown at us.
Like Danceing with the Stars, American Idol, Survivor, add more crap here!
Face it.
TV has devolved to a level that matches most of the populations IQ
When the population demands stuff like this?
What does it REALLY say about things?

To paraphrase George Carlin

Imagine, for a moment, the average American. Think about how dumb he or she is. Now consider that almost half of Americans are not as smart as that.
