View Full Version : What's wrong with the wind direction?
Two patrols now, the wind direction is always 0 and wind speed never over 7 knots. Its February-March 1940.
I use only the GWX 3.0

The weather changing intervall may be up to 96 hours and there may be only minor changes. Sometimes only the windspeed changes from 4 to 7 m/s and than back again.
Most of the time the weather system works quite good, but like in real life there is allways something to grumble. You'll see when you're in storm and fog conditions for several days.
If you save your game often, the intervall may restart everytime you do so and your impression confirms itself.
Take the weather as it is. :)

Exactly, enjoy the nice calm weather and clear skies. You'll soon be cursing the high winds/rough seas with heavy cloud/heavy rain stopping you making torpedo attacks:damn:

The wind is blowing from north - no matter what direction you turn your boat.
And it will change - even if you head 5000 km straight westward.

When the wind direction is given in the game it refers to the points on the compass, an absolute bearing - not one that is relative to your boat's heading. For wind direction 0 degrees always means due north, 180 degrees due south, etc. As long as the wind continues to blow to/from the same direction, the report will be the same regardless of your own course or any changes you make to it.
It's not like the bearing of a sound contact on the hydrophone, for instance, which is reported relative to your own heading.
