In SH2, when I was locked on a target the chronometer would show time to impact before I fire, when I do fire there will be a RED hand left in its place and the watch would start, now if I chose to fire a second torpedo on a closer ship I can wait until the RED hand from the first fired torpedo to catch up with my second shot so they can hit at the same time, this can allow me to fire 4 shots and they would all hit there targets at the same time before the convoy could change cource. How do I enable this in SH3, or do I need to download a mod for it.
P.S. my angle on bow gauge is not working, please help.
I need this info to play Silent Hunter 3

On the Attack Map (F6) screen, if you are locked on to a target and have the torpedo speed set, it will show the angle the torpedo must turn to hit the target, and the time it will take it to get there. That's about as good as it gets in SH3.

NO, you don't understand, before I fire and locked on target, the ANGLE ON BOW gauge will give me the angle of the target ship in respect to my sub, if I am facing north, and the target ship is facing east, that gauge should be pointing to the right, if the target ship is traveling west then it should point left, if the target ship continues to travel west and then I change course to a heading of 270, then the gauge will slowly move from pointing left to pointing UP as I am turning.
The question is, how do you get it working?
Then when I am locked on target the clock should have a BLACK hand pointing to the time it will take to hit, when I fire it will then turn RED and start counting down, the object is to have all your targets get impact at the same time, so now I will target a ship closer to my sub thus taking less time to impact as the first target, now I will wait for the RED hand to catch the BLACK hand then I will fire, now I have 2 RED hands counting down to impact, how do I enable this or is there a mod for it?

What he said is all you get for SH3.
As for AoB gauge, if you have auto targetting on, you don't even have to mess with it, and it's automatically locked out.

Well that sucks, that gauge in SH2 would help me line up the boat to get a perfect hit, maybe in SH6 half the crew will just sit around picking there noses and YOU. As the captain will run back and forth across the ship doing there jobs, if you forget to close a valve propery, your sub will shift on its axis and sink to the bottom to there nose picking graves.

Now we are talking WW2 Germany, U-Boat captain were not chosen for there skill, the rest of the crew was, U-Boat captains were chosen and assingned subs via politics, the more advanced the sub was, the dumber the captain would be, most likely chosen because he got married to one of Hitlers relitives or other powerful persons fat/ugly daughter.
The XO knew what he was doing and just followed the captains orders.

Human brain is a fine torpedo clock. 1 knot is very close to 0,5m/s.

.5144_ m/s to be exact. Close enough for government work.
Thanks OS, I did not know that, I'll have to use that more. Cause I love it when everything goes BOOM all at the same time.

In SH3 you can select Manual Targeting, then select Weapons Officer Assistance. It will not update the information automatically, but every time you ask him he will update it for you. It's not exactly the way it was done, and he's way too perfect, but it feels more real than Auto Targeting and is easier than doing it all yourself.

Do you have any evidence for that wild claim? Sure, there are always people who get appointments through good connections, but by-and-large every captain was an XO first, and a lower officer before that, and any good captain knew his boat and his crew inside-out.

Yes I do have evidence, Germany had the entire world in the palm of there hands, they let a bunch of morons at the top make decidions for them, these morons kept themselves at the top, you had 1 moron say: lets declair a superior race, and another moron that got beaten up by a jewish kid when he was younger says: lets exterminate the jews, and another moron to think fighting against the United States would be there best decidion.
I highy doubt these morons were elected into power, they were put into power via politics, and shiit always run down hill.

What you highly doubt is irrelevant. Evidence means documentation proving that, say, Kretschmer, got his commission by favoritism, or that he was stupid and his 1WO did all the work?
If not, then everything you say is opinion, not fact.

Put another way, you've no idea what you're talking about and are just relying on Hollywood's versions of events to give you a general impression.
Hitler's Reich was undoubtedly evil, but the Wehrmacht was one of the finest fighting forces ever raised: to the point where the newly formed Israeli Defence Force decided to copy their tactical doctrine in preference to American or British doctrines. The Germans didn't put the world on its back foot for three years by promoting any old idiot.

When and how exactly did Germany have the world 'in the palm of their hands'?

I assume you mean documentary? Documentation is usually paper, while a documentary is usually Film.
All good though.

I just watched this all the way through today for the first time.
That scene is awesome.
And the final scene - well. I think Chaplin was speaking from his heart there. First movie in which he spoke and boy did he ever. :DL
By the outbreak of the war the KM already had a very well trained officer core that was selected purely from their previous experience. While there was no Navy between 1918-1930 there was still merchant marines. Prien is a prime example, he was already a very salty sailor by the time the KM recruited him into the U-Boats program. Previously he served for 10 years iirc in the merchant marine starting at the bottom and moving nearly to having his own command by the time the KM began reforming.
In the time well before hostilities began all the kadet kapitans had performing a lot of testing and practice with real torpedoes (minus the payload of course) each perspective captain was put through a battery of tests and war games. Prien happened to end up in the top 10 (was #4 I believe) of all the testing the KM had done to see which captains were worthy of command of any u-boat. Prien was lucky and with his high scores was one of the few that got assigned a type VII, competition was so fierce that even Kretschmer's first command was a duck (type II). From 38 till about mid 40 they had a very skilled group of sailors that were training to became u-boat captains instead of surface ships where they had all gotten their experience.
That pool of talent dried up and the KM was never really able to fully recover from the loss of the "old breed". In 39' or 40' you had to have already proven yourself on the sea just to get command or even a commission on a duck. We all know what happens later in the war...

The scene is absolutly brilliant and Wagner's Lohengrin Overture is outstanding as well. I love to wake up with it.

I don't.
Unless he has nothing but advice about how to play better.
SubSim has a "general" forum for politics, rants, revisionism, etc.... let it move over there.
