I am a Silent Hunter 2 player and it does not work on Windows7, I perchased SH3 and am disapointed in its interface as it is very diferent from SH2 that is just fun and easy to play.
SH3 has better graphics and bells & wistles such as the torpedo chase cam and the animated boat breaking in half before it sinks and much more realism, but I would like the option to turn them off & on at will and allow multi player hosts to set these peramiters.
SH3 is NOT SH2, but is SH4 or SH5 more like SH2 as far as interface and gameplay go, if so let me know.

I am not looking for only realism, I am looking for just good old fun like SH2.
1. Estemated time on all torpedo reloads and external transfers.
2. Estemated time to torpedo impact before you fire, so that I can have all my torpedos hit there 4 different targets at the same time.
3. Destoyer Command multiplayer compatibility.
4. Target data to actually get a long range hit, as the capitan did not run all stations by him self.

Things SH2 doesn't have and needs.
1. Early head hunting or destruction/sinking of warships would not result in more lightly escorted convoys in furture missions within that campaign, so if I sink the Queen Marry, it will be removed from all missions of that campaign.
2. Chase cam for torpedos.
3. Ability to save your game within a campaign mission where you left it, we all have lives and families and jobs to goto and sleep, those 48 hour campaign missions in SH2 almost got me fired from my job and got me dumped by a hot lookin striper girlfriend in 2003 because I couldn't save my game.
4. Ships breaking in half when they sink, sound of screaming men do to there injuries, servivers on the serface that call to you for help and you can make a decidion to leave them there or machinegun them, maybe a guy on fire running around on deck with a missing arm.

I think you'll find that all of the subsequent Silent Hunter games from SH3 onwards do not emulate many of the features SH2brought to the table. Mainly, because Sh2 was considered a flop.

1. There is a percentage value for each and a visual reference.
2. I do not believe this function exists in SH5 (it may I haven't been keeping completely up to date).
3.DC is a SH2 function. Many however are calling for its return. If you want something similar, takeup the MP in Sh3 with the surface warfare mod.
4. There are a number of tactics and strategies to make long range kills without using the games TDC.

From what you mention in SH2s needs, many of these features have been implemented in all subsequent SH games (except #1)

The 2D stations in SH2 were perfect, plus the pinned control mini tabbed stations on the right, using the interface of SH2 2D stations and SH5 3D grafix combined with the ability to save games would be the ultimate sim, and thus adding the following protections.
1. Limit moders from making cheats such as night and thermal vision perascopes so the game won't be completely basterized early in its release.
2. Multiplayer ship scripts will be downloaded from the server and only they can be run within that multiplayer session, eg. SH2 within Destroyer Command you could alter the ships power, speed, damage, thus I can set my depthchare damage to maximum or set my deck gun to maximum thus making it a rail gun and able to take out capital ships with a single shot, or giving myself 2000 torpedo reloads of T5's that move at 100 knots.
3. Focus on mission creation easyness for all so that neebe James can post his missions for download and even create multiplayer scinerios.
4. Make the game playabe with older computers as far back as 2002 laptops so that everone can actually play it, even the guy with the $6000 box can set all grafix and 3D options realistic fog and waves to max, and the guy with a 2002 laptop will just have functions that his computer can handle. ( when SH2 came out you needed at least a $1900 box just to play it at minimum settings )
5. Make the game only cost $6 on a digital download and not waiste money on copy protection, make money on the download page with advertizements for singles websites that the dev team owns that will lead to millions plus reselling there email adress.( if someone is illegally hosting the game download will and can be delt with )
6. Give the abillity for gamers to host there dedicated servers on a Windows, CentOS Linux and dedicated server source for Free BSD and other servers and hosting companies, also make a simple php sever admin control page that can be acessed on smartphones.

1. The game doesn't have that, and if you mean colour filters, they are completely different then Thermal/Night vision

2. There are multiplayer groups, however to be compatible you must be running the right mods yourself, they do however supply the links

3. Check the Mp Scenario section

4. Alas that's the price of advanced graphics..

5. I saw a post stating it was down to 7$...

6. :timeout:...:06:

You're not going to find a whole lot of 'un-realism' mods on SubSim.

In SH2, when I was locked on a target the chronometer would show time to impact before I fire, when I do fire there will be a RED hand left in its place and the watch would start, now if I chose to fire a second torpedo on a closer ship I can wait until the RED hand from the first fired torpedo to catch up with my second shot so they can hit at the same time, this can allow me to fire 4 shots and they would all hit there targets at the same time before the convoy could change cource. How do I enable this in SH3, or do I need to download a mod for it.

P.S. my angle on bow gauge is not working, please help.

Press O to see the watch.

I'm not the guy who advice every newcomer to use TDW UI, but in your case.. you will need that mod. Jumping from SH2 straight into SH5 ... its hard even for SH3 players. So go and download TDW UI, you will find there every tool and automation you just need to accommodate you with SH5.

Then you're on the wrong board. I've moved it to the SH2 forum.

EDIT: Sorry, misread as SH2. I'll ask Hitman move it to SH3.
