PETERSBURG, Ky. -- The Creation Museum will announce details Wednesday afternoon of its planned expansion.
Answers In Genesis, which built and operates the religious-themed attraction, plans to build a full-scale wooden replica of Noah's Ark based on biblical descriptions.
The $24.5 million project will be constructed by the same team that built the Creation Museum.
...
Ken Ham, president and CEO of Answers In Genesis, cites poll data showing that an estimated 63 percent of Americans would visit a full-scale replica of Noah's Ark if one were built in the U.S."We see a full-scale, wooden ark as something so significant that it will shake up this nation," Ham said. "It would be a clear reminder to America about the truths of the Bible. The building of a huge ark is a unique and powerful opportunity to reach millions in our nation (and around the world) with a bold statement: God's word is true."
...
The new park will be built on land owned by the museum, which presents an account of the origins of the universe and life that matches the book of Genesis. This interpretation of prehistory is generally at odds with scientific consensus, and the museum has attracted criticism from some academic and religious groups. I wonder who these 65% are. Any one of us?
So they build this big boat and let people get in side. What would be the reaction "gee this is a big boat" might be one of them.
I don't see how building a big boat would either confirm or refute the biblical story of Noah. :nope:

According to Wiki the Ark was ~150m x 25m x 15m (300x50x30 cubits, 1cubit = ~.5m) in size. Now, either Noah had one of those shrink guns from Duke Nukem 3D or it never happened. :O:

I'd check it out if in the neighborhood and didn't have to pay to support that particular institution. I like boats; that's one more I'd get to see, but only if I could climb around the inside like I used to on Taney and Torsk.

Because the fact that modern man using modern tools building a boat that does not float, somehow proves that a more primitive man, using simple tools could, in fact build a boat that will float with two of every one of the millions of species of animals.
Makes sense... not to me, but it must make sense to someone.

This is too stoopid to be true, which means it must be so. >>CLICK (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ham_(son_of_Noah))<<

Well, I think they should demonstrate it is possible, not by building a full size mock-up, but by building a full size boat, out of wood, using period techniques. It should, of course, be built by a single man, but I'd be happy with an entire construction team. They can then demonstrate the truth of the story by placing it in the ocean, and loading two of every animal into it, along with all the food and supplies needed for the animals and the eight person crew.
I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work...
And if it doesn't someone can at least film it and make it a new History Channel show.

First thing I thought of, too.
But I agree. Even if the story were to be true (after all, God can do anything) this wouldn't prove it

In multiple locations, by multiple discoverers, all claim to be the true ark.
Sigh.....
If it was full size, I'd be interested just to see the supposed 'historically accurate' construction techniques and general ship handling of those days.

Yea but I think the one in Mt Ararat is ''The Ark'' man, its too big to be an ordinary boat. Who knows. :hmmm:
I'd take a look, for curiosity's sake.
Anyway, the next project must surely by the Tower of Babel?

Perhaps we need some real relics for the faithful, a true shroud from turin, a splinter of the cross or some wine from the wedding at caana, or possibly some authenticated finger bones from the christ...available in boxes of ten.

Science. But I did ponder on your advice and thanks to the internet this is what I found: :dead:
Chemical properties are derived from the number and the location of the electrons in various orbits around the atomic nucleus; in other words, chemical properties derive from an aspect of particle physics.
Biology is based on a set of processes which essentially occur in an area of organic chemistry (that is, chemistry which involves both the elements hydrogen and carbon); or as Mike Adams famously put it, "organic chemistry is the chemistry of carbon compounds. Biochemistry is the study of carbon compounds that crawl."
Physics creates the "space" in which chemistry happens. Chemistry creates the "space" in which biology happens. Biological organisms and processes follow the laws of both physics and chemistry, including the laws of thermodynamics, which are important to all three fields.
Carbon compounds are the catch words here:hmmm:

When I was a kid I would have loved to seen an Ark, even if I had known it was only a representation. Might help if they keep live giraffes and such there... make it a zoo so it smells like an animal hold. "Two of everything" might be a bit to accommodate for, unless they plan on expanding to the size of who-knows-what. :DL

Although not necessarily the dumbest thing I have ever heard of, this ark business sits very high in the top three...
Oddly enough the other contenders both involve religion. Go figure.

It was a bugger of a patrol, obviously being in the very beginning it was vanilla so the weather was terrible. 40 days and 40 nights and I could't see a single ship through the downpour.
Then behold like a miracle the ark appeared, but no one told me at torpedo school that gopher wood is no good for magnetics:o
I managed a second attempt with impacts a blew the holy bejesus(continuity error) out of the side but it appears noah moved all the dinosaurs to the other side of the ship create such a heel that the holes were out of the water.
Luckily for them God had put in some extra instuctions in a lost chapter of the book of noah which told him to bring spare gopher wood to repair any holes from torps(being all knowing of course), so his sons did that while the women lightened the load by jettisoning the dinosaur excrement with the divine pooper scoopers and the ship was able to sail to a dozen locations in Turkey a few in Iran Armenia, Ethiopia and possibly even Utah
It was at this point in the patrol that I finally realised the slogan "Gott mit uns" was bollox as he was obviously on the other side

Also the BdU, Onkel Neal, issued the order not to rescue any survivors any more - especially no hippos!
