Hi,
I've held out installing this game since i bought it (On release!), because of the issues and i was building my study....i've just ordered a new monitor and should be picking up one of the new G-cards from either ATI or Nvidia in a few weeks.
I currently have a 260GTX which has 895mb of Memory, and would like to install this game and get it patched / moded up ready for when my new hardware arrives, however....
Some games detect whether your G-card has 1GB of Mem or not and locks certain graphic features if you dont!, i dont want to load this game up, mod it etc, and find i've got to do the same all over again in a few weeks time when i get a 1GB+ G-card just to unlock "Ultra shadows" or something!
Can someone tell me if this is the case with SH5
THanks

I have an old Nvidia 9600GT 512Mb card in mine and I never got any warning messages or obvious lock-outs. I would think your much newer card would be way more than powerful enough to run SH5 without breaking a sweat. Mine ran it no problem.

Thanks,
Sometimes the highest detail settings and/or some graphic options are not allowed unless your packing at least 1GB of video Memory.
Im wanting to run this game at high AA+AF with at least 60fps on my new monitor which is 1920x1200 Res, thus the need for a more powerful card!!, i could probably scrape it with a 260GTX, but not those frame rates with high detail. at that resolution .i would guess.

I went the other way and run a 'kin huge.screen at middling resolution with plenty of AA. I use an HDMI link to drive a 32" LCD TV or a projector with an 8 foot screen, depending on how I feel. Max resolution never really goes higher than 1280 x 1024 though, as I have found the difference at higher res not so noticeable except in degrading performance.

Blimey, you clearly dont do things in half's!!, i do feel though a TV never produces the clarity of tiny spec objects, i.e a ship at night on the horizon, like a monitor though....if they did, i would guess monitors would become a thing of the past!!

Is there a slider for AF or is that in your video cards settings (I use Catalyst)? I have the one for AA maxed but don't see an AF one. I would assume my ati 4800 hd would show me all options..
edit: the answer is there is not, it's in Catalyst's CCC options.

I had a choice, spend 200 notes on a 22" monitor or a 32" LCD flatscreen telly. TVs with HD capability will do 1980 x 1024, they're basically just big monitors with the added fun of a tv receiver and speakers built in. How much would a 32" monitor cost? In fact my media centre PC on the living room is running through a 37" LCD telly using HDMI as well, it works a treat. A monitor might be technically slightly sharper, but mine fills your view more.
