I got a radio message on March the 1st that all Atlantic operations must be suspended. Is this realistic and should I follow the order or it's just another GWX radio message?

What year is this? Im guessing its 1941, which in that case it will be in preparation for Operation Weserübung - the invasion of Norway. You can choose to ignore it, as it wont affect your career, but if you wanted you can take part (its scripted in GWX), just get back to base and if you have SH3 commander set time in port so you depart base 1-2 days before the operation begins and set patrol grid to "null" and head up the Norwegian coast.

...or it's just another GWX radio message?
That one. The game isn't sophisticated enough for major campaign changes. You can just go sink stuff if you want to.

It's simulating BdU's withdrawal of U-boats to support the invasion of Norway in April, 1940. By the way, Doenitz was infuriated by this, seeing it as a waste of valuable U-boats which would have been more efficiently used by sinking merchant tonnage in the Atlantic, especially as the British would have been withdrawing escorts for their own Norway operations.

What a downer this thread turned out to be. When I saw the thread title, I got a little excited expecting to see some suspender sets. :(

Lol.

I understand that suspender operations in the Atlantic were vitally important to the task of keeping one's u-boat leathers from ending up around one's ankles, thus decreasing crash dive times by upwards of 50% as watch crews were no longer forced to hobble slowly towards the hatch and down the ladder.

Yes.
Being far advanced of most other Nations in this area resulted in several failures however.
Here's one of the Advanced Suspender Devices in early tests.

Note that while it is doing a great job of holding up the trousers of
the test subject, it is a bit bulky.
:haha:

Here it is in actual Field testing holding up lots of trousers.

Not to be out done in the Suspender Technology field,
The U.S. Navy developed thier own device.
Here it shows the ability to hold up an entire Aircraft Carrier crews Trousers.
:o

It had the added ability to scare away U-Boats and that is what it's most known for today.

It wasn't. His suspenders were way too modern. Notice the stitch patterns, and the dyes used. Totally bogus. :D

That's the real reason Frau wants to get rid of them. :O:

Oh absolutely, has nothing to do with needing them out of the way in order to get the rest of his clothes off before I run him a nice hot bubble bath, put the music on, light the candles, and pop dinner in the oven.

Not that I've thought about it much or anything.

I would think Balz would refrain from devulging the True story of Suspender research and follow the Party line of a
'Advanced Lookout' thingy type story.
Then again?
Balz, I am most sure, has a different story about that.
:haha:

While not the most derailed thread ever, it may have succeeded in having the most 'plot twists' in a 2 page thread.

Just watch.
In a few years?
Schools will be teaching the
'Suspender Story'
as the truth!
:nope:
One Man's fantasy is another Man's Truth.
I remember what I was taught in school.
And I found that nearly all of it was lies.
The ones I'm not sure of, I still doubt what I was taught.

...well, one typo can lead to interesting resluts.

I had a patrol scheduled for off the coast of Norway. I set sail, and upon leaving Wilhelmshaven, I immediately got the order to suspend operations. So that was disappointing.

Reteads need to be in care otherwise they'll get taken advantage of. :D

Resluts on the other hand sound like sloppy seconds.

Personally I prefer suspenders.
