I'm looking for a new CPU for a motherboard that's already old enough for shops not to sell compatible CPUs for it. I'm especially interested in the two CPUs listed above, Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 and Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700, which are "the best" this board can mount. My current CPU is a Core 2 Duo E6400.
Specs for the motherboard:
Model: MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp Edition
CPU mounting: Socket 775
Compatible CPUs: Full list from MSI (http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=267&maincat_no=1)
If you happen to own either of the CPUs in the title with Socket 775 mounting, or anything else in the compatibility list that performs better than a C2D E6400, and want to get rid of it drop me a PM or post here.
