She's an British citizen living in England, not Iran or some bat**** crazy religious country like that.

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran.

The 15-year-old, who lives in the West Midlands, allegedly posted the video, filmed two weeks ago on her school premises, on Facebook.

The video was reported to the school and subsequently removed, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats. Both have been released on police bail.

She can be punished by the school system for setting fire to the book on school property.

this is not however an arrestable offense.

the state is stomping out her 1st amendment rights.

It has just come to my attention that I said "Oregon", when in fact the girl is British, this is because I was reading another news article about an Oregon teen who tried to blow up a holiday celebration while writing this article, I apologize.

Where does it say she is living in Oregon? I can't find that.

A cursory review of the Oregon Statutes shows no crime that involves "inciting religious hatred".

Without a citation of the statute, I can't opine on whether this is or is not a valid arrest.

Naturally, the news articles neglect to cite the actual statute this women was arrested for. :nope:

@Solace, I think you should amend your post so nobody else thinks she's from Oregon, when in fact she is from UK. :D

God knows the ACLU would be forming a human shield around her and dumping millions of dollars into her legal defense fund by now if that were the case

I think this is stomping on her rights.
What a child does in school has lots of restrictions put on it, there is no way that burning a book at school is within her rights.

So she burnt the Koran, big deal who cares, same thing if she burnt the Bible big deal who cares, I don't think the God of the Koran or the God of the Bible is going to be too terribly upset over it only man makes it look like its blasphemy.

These overzealous religious folks need to take a chill pill. :O:

She would have been arrested if she had burnt the bible too..

Incitement of religious hatred covers all you know.

Personally I'd have made the arrest under the charge of "being a stupid immature girl who thinks she is cool" and sentenced her to washing old men in a nursing home for two weeks.

But what if it's not inciting religious hatred? What if it was a valid protest?
I guess you would have to look at the motives, hell when I was younger I would do somethings just because I was told I couldn't!

Sorry , but you have already said you would be a BNP supporter if you lived in England to preserve the white race and since their whole wet dream "idea" is promoting race war through inciting racial hatred then it does somewhat colour your views and bring into question any notion of "valid".
If however you can take any elements of the neo nazi racist scumbags that do make up the core of the BNP and show them to be something other than racist scumbags then your input will be happily recieved.

Or on the other hand can you show how a child in school under school rules that their mother has agreed to shall be allowed to burn a book on school premesis without being in violation of the laws?

If you want to burn a Quran in public, wrap it into a fake book cover reading "The Meaning of Humanism in Western history" or a title like that, and nobody will complain. Maybe you even get a commendation for having demonstrated a strong basic attitude of embracing the idea of unconditional equality of other cultures by showing how little you care for the worth of your own.

In several places in the Muhammedan world, recently some stinking Christians were burning, btw.Ts-ts, pig-eaters. I think its not easy to set alight a Christian body. How many pages from the Quran do you need to light one Christian, does anyone know?
