I have a new system which I'm happy to say runs SH4 like a dream (with all the graphic settings cranked up etc). The only thing I'm disappointed with is the night graphics. There is a slight halo effect around everything on the sub when on the bridge and the sky itself has cheap 'painted' layered look to it. A bit of an immersion killer. Apart from that everything is pretty much flawless.
Any suggestions?

Sys specs:
i7 64-bit
Win 7
6 Gig RAM
ATI Radeon 5700HD (PCI-e)

Game is running TMO 2.0 with RSRD (no other mods).

What settings are you using for AA and AF?

I've never messed around with Anti-Aliasing and Anistropic Filtering so I'm not sure what the settings are. I'm not sure I understand exactly what either does to be honest.

Hi Tomoose. I know what you mean. From the looks of it, our machines are pretty close, except I'm running 2x5850's. I must admit, the effect has reduced considerably compared to my last system. What env. mod dose TMO use? I use RFB which uses the RE mod. I run with the Post Process Filters on. My screen res is 1600x900, and I'm useing both 8x AF and AA. Like I said, the effect you describe is there, but not to the point that it kills it for me. Another thing, what Cat version are you running? I'm useing 10.6, which is what came installed on my new system. I know there are newer versions available, but I don't have any probs, so I'm not changing.

I'm currently running a HD 5870 in my computer, as a matter of fact our computer specs are not too dissimiliar. I have both my AA and Af set to max and you be surprised the difference it can make.

My sky looks great. I use the settings discussed in the nvidia sticky. Also helps to keep gamma down some.

I had to deal with the same problem with my Nvidia 7600. One thing I can tell you; Don't mess with the in-game gamma adjustment. For me this graphic option was turning my sky in a glass mosaic.

I play now with the in-game post-process filter off and AA/AF set to 4X and the issue is solved.

Yea, too much gamma and poor settings my sky looked like bubble wrap at night, more fog, but the settings corrected it. Still, I keep gamma down to default and less, just like a dark sky.
