Happy Thanksgiving to all the Pilgrims in the USA.
When you eat your turkey take a moment a give thanks to all the men and women in the military worldwide who fight terrorism each day.
When you watch football and enjoy the game with a beer, think of those who fight a war in a land far away and can not be home with their loved ones.
I salute those who courageously risk their lives each and every day so that the world will be free.:salute:

And remember Squanto... the helpful Native American who helped the Pilgrims survive their first winter (they brought writing tables but forgot plows).
How did Squanto happen to know how to communicate with the Pilgrims?
He was kidnapped by the English in 1614, sold into slavery in Spain, emancipated by friars, traveled to England and lived there 4 years, then went back to North America with the cod fishers. Just in time to be on hand when the Pilgrims arrived, shivering and starving.
Squanto deserves, at the very least, a ship named after him.

There was a USS Squanto. She was a Large Yard Tug (YTB-194). There doesn't seem to be any online information available. She falls right in between USS Osamekin (YTB-191) http://www.navsource.org/archives/14/08191.htm and USS Yonaguska (YTB-195) http://www.navsource.org/archives/14/08195.htm, so was probably the same class and looked like the pictures in those two articles.
Found some info on her here

D'OH! I have that site in my links as well, but I hardly ever go there. Thanks for the update, HW3! :sunny:
