24th November 2010 - General Strike in Portugal.

According to statistics 80% of Portuguese workers joined the strike in the public and private sectors. The images that follow are employees of CTT (communications) or better from a picket line of CTT and linked to the union (CGTP-INTER).

(Unedited version) Workers ctt Cabo Ruivo are today on strike forming a picket line in these facilities, being the target of intimidation by the police for intervention. This is a clear violation of the right to strike, trying to hinder the role of the pickets.

Thats its your opinion and i respect that...but you dont know what this goverment cuts especial from the workers...correction all aways from the workers and strike its right you have and strike pickets.

Our country its ben like this from 25 of April 1974 time of revolution witch save the country from fascist goverment wich rule the country for more than 50 years. So more a strike it will not make any diference to you...the people just want to say they dont agree with this direction witch this goverment is taken us.

and yet these morons are still trying to strike?!So they should just take whatever the government fires at them?

Don't forget Portugal isn't the US of Capitalist A. That you guys believe every worker should just be a slave to his employer is your problem. In Europe we still have some rights.

Very good point of view, Darkfish!

My point of view it was only to show the repressive away, and the pressure against this workers only because they are in strike and they are a strikepicket line from the CTT and they all so belong to the CGTP-INTER witch is a workers union. We are back to the fascist times and repressive goverment, and demoracy its only by name only, and for international needs...like to invite NATO summit in Lisbon...

Aren't we all slaves to money?
today its a strike, tomorrow the government and the companies will figure out that its cheaper to outsource jobs to China and India
i think(no offence intended) that many Europeans are spoiled
In this age of advanced communications and transportation, what is it that a Portuguese guy could do that a Chinese or Indian guy can't do for 1/20th of his wage with no benefits?

And after that these strikers would figure out that they will get less money!

You are right in some point.
So in your country you have a skrike going on, right?
Your govermente call the Intervention police to break through against the workers? Of course not... and in this video and in the tv they dont show any violence because this happened very late at night because the tv they have afraid from the goverment, or they are controled by the goverment...or they show the part less violent (witch it is in this case) this is the point!

Portugal situation is much complicated for just a few words. Many things are wrong, many things work wrong.
The goverment and polititians in general are the most corrupt and money suckers of this contry. Works are normally explored and lay off for the boss to have money the big car. Insted of shooting the boss, they tend also to do noting, besides striking and protesting, for several reasons.
Red Heat calls the contry fascist, he is right in some way, but it's more something of a 3rd world contry banana republic!

Im not against you because you are against striking in general, im against the politicians and goverment and police forces from my country. I can be against strike without suport the police charges against the workers, i defend this because with out workers what the goverment will do? the workers must have more respect and conditions to live and to work give support to they families, sons, older people, education, health...

If you are able to see from our eyes...like me, Rhodes, DarkFish, because we are European or when this kind of actions taken place in your country then you will start too see things from another view.

@Rhodes thanks for you support and point of view... :salute:
