I can't disagree with that. This is what happens when spineless politicians refuse to take decisive action on illegal immigration because their more concerned about getting reelected then they are anything else. What happened? To cite a movie quote.....

There really isn't anything anyone can do about it now. That boat left awhile ago. It's too late now. Personally, It's my thought that Mexico has found a way to skirt around Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and is, has, or is in the process of, reclaiming lands lost to the US during the Mexican-American war. Hence, I concede that as a californian, no longer live in the united states, but in a province of Mexico.

I remember in the 80's most construction work was done by white and black Americans for a decent wage. I worked as a Sr. Estimator for a large commercial paint contractor in the 80/90's. Most large contractors had big in house shops, followed OSHA rules, heck, we even had a plane to travel 3 states. Most had great benefits.

Illegals came and really took over. Usually a legal mexican would run 50 illegals. They didn't pay taxes, fair work comp and such low wages no one could compete. Not to mention they dump thousands of gallons of waste on the ground, toxic stuff.

The big in house contractors made big cuts, benefits went, wages cut, ect. Still not enough. One by one family businesses went out. The company I worked for had been in business since 1926 closed down in 2003.
What did I do, I opened my own business and guess who I sub my work out to, mexicans...there is no one else.

Since 1990's wages haven't increased for any group in the construction field. If you were making $16 per hour in 1995, you would be damn lucky to get that today. Heck, I have some employees work for $10 per hour and glad to get it, legal americans.

Course the economy has set legal and illegals back. I worked over 80 men 4 years ago, today I work 6.

One sad fact, most Americans that complain will still hire a cheap mexican over a legal citizen.
I see it everyday. Our richest neighborhoods full of white GOP members that complain look like
little mexico during the day from all the cheap labor, yard workers, construction, painters, ect..

If you want to gripe about jobs going offshore or to Hispanics, look first at the corporations that are so desperate to improve quarterly numbers for shareholders that they cut costs to the point that the people who are working to build homes can't afford to own a reasonable one for themselves.

Corporate responsibility and accountability, rather than, "I'm failing, bail me out" will be what changes this. No law and nothing else will.

We have about 3,500 border patrol agents for our entire southern border, New York alone has over 35,000 cops, that should tell you something.

GOP shares blame also BUT the Dems have been in control of Congress since 2007 and the Presidency for two years, they have failed to secure border or do anything meaningful because they have no will to protect the border.With some great people like Rand Paul etc headed to Congress, perhaps we will see some action on the issue.

They say the real numbers are around 30 million illegals here. We would never really know until we give em amnesty.

I saw one illegal girl crying over how she came here and worked hard, going to medical school and won't be able to get a job as a Doctor because she has no SSN. Go to Mexico and use the free education there.

It's the cost cutting corporations and businesses fault. GM did it to Michigan, my home state, by moving to mexico, but they made great earnings doing that. so don't blame the people who came here like our forefathers did, looking for a better life, Blame the greedy business owners who started this epidemic to make more money.

In order to maximize the business' success, the decision-makers in the business must find a way to max out profit and eliminate costs as much as possible. The easiest costs to eliminate are payroll: it costs a lot to pay knowledgeable people a competitive wage to keep them in your employ, and it costs a lot to provide that person with the benefits necessary to keep them healthy enough to make you money. Instead, hire inferior employees at a cheap rate, provide abysmal service, and replace the now-fired employee with another. If you can eliminate the position entirely, or outsource it to another nation for pennies on the dollar, then the shareholders will be happy with the margin and cash the dividend checks.

I've said it for years: You can't expect Cadillac service for McDonald's wages.

What would change if we employed people who were experts in their fields, for wages commensurate with their abilities? What would happen if, instead of sloppily-completed building projects that are then mired in punitive litigation, and instead have a project that is completed with pride and quality?

the problem is is that they don't give a crap anymore. its cheap and easy for them to do this. The company heads aren't combing the streets for a job that will pay enough to feed their family, they're making good money letting the rest of us decent workers starve.
