Oh god I can only hope this story is hyperbole...

Airport officials at Denver International airport were on high alert yesterday when a full body scanner operator was caught masturbating in his booth as a team of High School netball players went through the scanner.

The satirists are having a field day with the much hyped TSA non story that the loony fringe are making a national meal of:rotfl2:

These storys do seem hyperinflated and all up in your face. Those incidents that do make the news are over the top tabloid type incidents. Frisking half naked young boys, babbys in their carriges, Nuns, urine bladder bursting, good looking women with a TSA agent hands on her breasts. This is the stuff the National Enquire froths at the mouth over. The rest of the media enjoys it as well.

I will agree with Limbaugh here (yes I know your all shocked) in that it is all in an effort to get you to use the scanners as the lesser of two invasive procedures.

About the pecunairy interists in those scanners is another topic but one you may wish to look into to get an idea of the players here. So get out your led foil hats :03:

Anyhow personally I would choose the scanner because I dont really care if my tiny shriveled junk and beer belly are scrutinized. Anyone 'turned on' by such an image really needs to seek help. If I was some supermodel or athlete I would be apprehensive to say the least.

Furthermore I will choose the scanner as I do not fly often. But I do understand those whom fly often holding concerns over repeated exposure. There is a reason the dental technician places a led 'vest' on you and then stands on the other side of a led wall when they take your xrays.

I'm just thinking a little common sense and some 'gasp' profiling would go an awful long ways.

As I said before why inconvience or 'offend' a few when we can inconvience and offend everyone.

Israel does it right, should follow their example as far as airline security goes.

The scanners are just another attempt to put up the charade of safety. the problem is, is a terrorist really wants to smuggle a bomb on, or a gun, he'll find another way. These guys sit around all day figuring this out.

Like I said...this is just to catch the stupid terrorists. All these images thay shot of a lady with a gun in her pants or a knife are bunk. A metal detector would find both of them

Indeed. And I think a lot of that charade comes out of the ignorance of the fact that it's long been proven that a 'smart', well-trained and determined group of plotters, with a bit of serious effort and planning, can get in ANYWHERE that they want. That's life for you - for all you want to pretend, you can never be 100% safe. And even if you can be 99.9% safe, an adequately prepared foe will target that 0.1% gap without mistake. If nothing else, I think Red Cell proved that. Honestly, it's a fortune for us all that by and large, Al Quaeda plotters after 9/11 have all been incompetent bunglers. And it's their fortune that on 9/11, noone seemed to take the possibility of what actually happened seriously.

that comes into the realm of "smart terrorists"
but it's been 9 years from 2001, you would think that, since we are just now getting these scanners, if it was such a huge problem we would have had it happened already.

besides, terrorists are now hiding bombs INSIDE of themselves. all these things will do is give use extra doses of radiation, and make us feel "safe"

Yep, that's a female ponytail. It makes sense that dudes search dudes, and females search females. Saves on liability suits and whatnot, I bet.

I'm not so sure about these new procedures, but frankly... there ain't much to look at. Most people will probably want to take the route of least resistance and go through the scanners... whereas the asswipes will pitch a fit and be taken aside for the extended pat-down. Agreed that the sacrificial morons (terrorists) will find a way around any measures put in place. They like doing that kind of thing, and they have someone (you and me) to practice on. **** 'em all to hell. But, until this idiotic war is over, this is the kind of crap we're going to have to go through to be relatively safe.

A friend of mine thinks we should all be issued matching jumpsuits before we fly. We put all of our clothing and personal belongings into a bin that is sorted over and scanned, and we receive them at our destination. Add that along with full body scans and chem sniffers and god knows what else and we have something much closer to a sci-fi movie than even I am comfortable with. The times, they are a-changin'. And in a way it really sucks because most of us just want to live. Leave it to a few dumb****s to spoil the party.

Apologies in advance for the strong language.

Edit: Meanwhile, AQ are laughing their asses off at the pandemonium they've set off. How much more of a frenzy can they get out of us before we figure it out?

I'm glad the public is finally saying "Enough is enough!" to this government intrusion. The questions of radiation safety and TSA personnel getting off on groping us are almost beside the point. To the aircrews, it's absurd that they get subjected to the same scan-or-grope treatment while the ground crews don't. The system is only good for catching dumb terrorists, not smart ones.

It isn't even about true security, it's about control -- priming us for even more violations of privacy till our daily lives look like a combo of Orwell's 1984 and "Minority Report".

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-07-16-tsa16_ST_N.htm

This is no joke. Once you give bureaucrats this kind of power, they'll never have enough. They'll always say it's to protect us from the Evildoers. History shows that when the onset of tyranny is gradual, people often do not recognize it until it's too late.

http://blogs.forbes.com/andygreenberg/2010/08/24/full-body-scan-technology-deployed-in-street-roving-vans/

The question we should be asking is not whether strip-scanning is a good idea or not, but rather: at what point will you recognize tyranny, if not now? (And then what will you do?)

I've got to fly for Christmas..Let's see

Pins in my elbow, back and neck, metal plate in my knee..

gonna be fun.

I had to go to court the other day and was actually pulled into a seperate room, didn't have to take my pants off, but they pulled the pants leg up to my knee.

I have a friend with a prosthetic leg, which consists of a simple metal pole with a plastic attachment basket and plastic foot - no place to hid anything. The last time he flew they insisted on strip-searching him. He replied "Why don't I remove the leg and you can search it and wand me?" They thought their idea was better. Twenty minutes later they finally let him go on through.

Huh, now there's a question for you. What do they do when implants get picked up?

I have pins and screws in my elbow as well; they don't show up on metal detectors, but I haven't had to go through a scanner yet (which I found really odd, having been on 8 flights to/in the US so far this year). I'm assuming they will show... My thought has been to alert them about it before I even go for the scanner. See what happens I guess. I'm gonna be on 4 flights in the next little while, all of them going to/from either NYC or Chicago. Already imagining all the fun I'll have
