When I play SH 5 i find it rare that my crew even tells me that a ship has been spotted.. I can sail on the ocean, put up game speed to like 512 and all of the sudden die because some destroyer 3-shot me!!!

What's up with that? and i didn't have the travel mode on , if you are wondering..

Do I as the captain have to stand on the bride before i will be able to spot anything while surfaced perhaps? :damn:

Don't stand on the bride! She'll scream and give away your position! :rotfl2:

That complaint has been made before, and I think there is a mod that fixes it.

Someone with more SH5 experience will have to give you the details.

Your watch crew will let you know if anything is spotted, but, at such a high time compression, you don't have time to react. Even when playing SH3, I was advised to not go over 128x TC. I've been able to stick to that and no longer get "ambushed." Yeah, it does slow the game down quite a bit, but that's part of life on a U-boat. I might suggest you get the gramophone or radio working and enjoy listening to some music as you hunt the wide expanses. :salute:

Strange, i never had such an experiance, neither in Sh3. Only in foggy conditions one could be surprised and rammed.
It might be fixed in one of the mods there are out?
