How long is unemployment good for, and what were they trying to extend it to?

Seriously. I don't know. The way things have been going, I figure my days are numbered, so I might need to use those benefits before too long myself.

The issue is with how it is going to be paid for. Republicans want to use unspent TARP funds that are sitting there not being used. Dems want to apply it to the deficit.
Republicans were elected on the platform of paying for what they purchase. Voters understand that means that the cuts won't be pleasant. When the new congress is active, it will get ugly. But there was NO reason for the Dems to try to stick this onto the deficit. The Dems continue to ignore their own "Pay-go" rule. And they wonder why they just got hammered........

Just remember to draw right away. They base it on your last quarter of pay. When the company I worked for over 20 years closed down, I lived off my savings for a year, then filed. I couldn't draw because I had no recent pay quarter. I'm 47 and worked fulltime since age 16 and never drew. Luckily I got through it.

My best advise Duci is getting your feelers out there now while still gainfully employeed.

Wonder how many pepole are 'shocked' when they find out that UEC is taxible income :yep:
Wonder what percentage of that tax is actually recovered.

We have some students here that have been on unemployment for almost 2 years now. Extension after extension. It's almost become a way of life for some people.
FWIW I hope you don't loose your job, especially where you live.

Most if not all of it seeing as last I heard they deduct it automatically from your check.
