I have had 7 waships circling on top of me now for over 20hrs is that normal? when will they give up and leave?
I'm up to 40% CO2 and down to less than 50% oxygen. I'm silently running and 152m deep. Batteries are now down to 25%

anyone able to give me some advice before i die?

There are many accounts of subs being DC'd for that long, especially with multiple warships involved. The condidtions within the subs were horrific and battieries were very low. SH5 gets some things wrong, but this account seems pretty accurate in the historical record. I wish that I'd see some of that, as most of the escorts I've run across are woefully inept.

In terms of advice, there isn't much to give. Since it doesn't seem like you are able to slip away, you'll have to either wait for them to give up or run out of ammo. Since there are 7 of them, they probably won't be running out anytime soon.

:hmmm: Sorry, it sounds like you are going to die:O:

I am assuming you are using IRAI

There are some built in times that DD will keep looking for you (cant remember how long). You need to get past this period without detection.
If it is a Hunter Killer group, they will stay on you forever.:arrgh!:

How to get away.

Can you go deeper yet (180m and still maintain depth at all stop)
Use all stop as DDs pass close over you. (check with external cam)
When there is a gap, use 1/2 knot to 1knot.
As DD comes around again - go all stop and coast.
Dont be tempted to go faster as they will be back on you.

You couls also adjust your realism to show the pacman (orange area where you can be heard at you current noise level)

This may also be the bug where the DDs stay on you forever.. save and reload and then try again.

Tell me you did it at 1X TC

That would require some kind of party at the end.

I think in total it was something like (real) 5-hours possibly longer from when they located me to them leaving. I was using x1 to x64 TC on and off over that time period

SHIII - game time: all night long with 2 or 3 DC`s. Real time, about 2-3 hours. It was... horrible... Das Boot experience;)
I used TC too.
7... so you got the situation :P

I honestly thought they were never going to leave. Then again i did sink the AC they were escorting so no doubt they were very pissed off!! It started on the 23rd January 1940 at around 16:30 and they eventually left late evening on the 25th January 1940 .

I've actually had situations like that with SH4 + OM where using any kind of TC = instant death.

Another point to slipping away is also zig zagging periodically. It's a painfully slow process while running at 1 knot but it does help by increasing their patrol pattern which in turn makes it easier for you to slip away.

My experience with TC has generally been that they detect you and promptly sink you. I tend to shy away from anything above TCx8 until I'm in the clear and even then I've seen escorts come steaming back.

I have an idea of how to make the uboat hull integrity decrease with DC's that explode near the boat. Still working on the implementation of it but if it works it'll add to the pucker-factor of being DC'd :D

7 Destroyers is kind of to much, but i am supprised how well it workes if you go to PD and destroy them. Sometimes in 2 runs. In SH3 i did it more then ones, did not needed it yet in SH5. Depending on what year your in. the destroyers tend to run at you in a strait line... you might risk a dud, but bug change of hitting it.
