On November 16, 2010, Staff Sergeant Sal Giunta of the 173rd Airborne will become the first living Medal of Honor recipient since the Vietnam War. His actions occurred in Afghanistan's Korengal Valley duiring the deployment chronicled in the movie "Restrepo." This fourteen-minute video tells his story. (in his own words no less)

Wow.

Not so much the story (amazing as it is), but the man.

I used to go to all the 8th AF luncheons (before I had kids, and had free time on weekends). You'd sit with those guys, and they all sounded like Giunta. Can't say how many times I heard "the real heros are the guys who didn't come home." I feel like I met countless heros at those lunches. He's just like them as a guy—and that's high praise in my book.

Typical war hero! His attitude makes him all the more worth the award indeed.

And honestly, we've been long overdue for a living MoH recipient. Let it not be said that the current generation of US soldiers is any less deserving than those that fought before it.
