UBI Soft comes out with Ultimate Naval combat....

Contains:
1 Submarine DVD for allies and Germans, all types of Submarine/U-Boots playable, minelayers, milkcows...

1 Destroyer DVD for allies and Germans, all types of destroyers from both sides.

1 Asia map DVD Submarine for both side American and Japs, all types of submarines..

1 Asia map Destroyer DVD, for both side American and Japs...

If a player want to play as a milkcow or minelayers, so be it, or he can play the regular carreer or play online...

Same with Destroyers...

How it works to play online, you need 5 German players and 5 Allies players, to be in naval combat...

If 1 player want to play as a milkcow, he will have a special assignment to be on guard and on call, of other player want refuel and rearms.

Minelayer player will lay mines where ever the grid will be, if he plays in early years, he will lays mines around england coast, later the year in US coast or by Gibraltar, or Africa east coast...

2 regular u-boot player/Brittish Submarine will go to grid whatever the mission told(in early years, later in the year when US declare war on German, The US Submarine will patroll UK or be guarding US coastal.., and hunt to German U-boots

1 Destroyer, will have mission on the northsea to hunt for Brittish subs,minelayers...

All players can be intouch by TXT chat relay in the game, to give the possition(on surface only). if 1 of the player need to refuel or rearm, he will TXT the milkcow for rendezvous point, but if they become intercepted by Allies Sub or Destroyer, or by AI Airforce, they can be under attacked...

The game-quality will be Silence Hunter IV/V heavy duty PC like quad core, and 1GB of GPX-card and a whole bunch of memories 4 to 8GB...

What do you think about that?
It reminds me to Silence Hunter II, and Destroyer command...
on LAN or by Internet...

And offcourse the Modders can also add mods to improve the game even more...

Nice thought but I don't think UBI will ever do something like that. In any case I really like it a lot!

Sounds great but highly unlikely Ubi would be behind it.

Sounds okay, I'd like to see more than just the five players on each side. I'd like to be able to take my boot into the wide world and play with/against a huge international community.

Remember Lag, you would like to play 8 vs 8??? or 16 vs 16, that would be nice, specialy when a convoy comes around the corner(Destroyer will be controled by AI) or if player that plays Destroyer or armed trawler nearby the Convoy to aid, that might be awesome but "LAG" can come also around if 1 of the player has lesser connection than others... like 3MBps vs 7mbps or faster, hopefully in the future 10MBps will be standard, so everybody can join....

But 4 subbers that attacked a convoy is really a wolf pack...even when 2 players attacked the same ship, the credit will be splitted...

and so with 2 Destroyers that attacked the same sub, will the credit be splitted...

Tell Ubisoft to get with Cornered Rat Software and add full naval functionality to WWIIOL ...... now THAT would be multiplayer!

Again... I can only imagine the lag and the missed torpedoes that result from it...

The problem with a multiplayer game is that it would have all players engaged at the same time, whereas in real life the U-boats would seldom attack simultaneously. Most times one boat would engage, then a short while later another boat would engage, and maybe two some time after that, and so on, throughout the day or two or three that a convoy action would last. Only rarely was a convoy beset by multiple attackers simultaneously.

What I think would be ideal is for a staggered onset of the U-boats, so that their attacks are spread out in time and space. Only rarely would two or more boats engage at the same time. This would allow the escorts to attack one or two boats, perhaps be drawn to one side and then another boat would arrive on scene to take advantage of the hole. Escort players would have to judge as to how long they would pursue a particular contact, knowing that there may be one or more new U-boats on the way to intercept. Or, there may not be any more U-boats on the way. Not knowing the exact number of U-boats that might engage would force the escort players not to send all of their resources after one contact, for fear of leaving the convoy naked. It would become very boring and predictable if the escorts knew "Here come 8 U-boats; when number 8 shows up we all bum rush him."

Time compression in such a multi-player game would be almost non-existent, limiting games to smaller sessions. This would have to be balanced against the number of players and compress the situation in order to get all players into the battle. This then would result in unrealistic engagement numbers. I think what would be nice is that players campaign individually, but when the master computer senses player controlled resources are in an area, it ports them to a tactical area and then the battle is on. I really don't know how one could balance the grand stategic and the local tactical games.

I doubt lag is really a large issue considering how relatively lag free certain MMOs are with massive raids, etc... but yes, the time compression issue is actually a bit of an annoyance.

Convoy be controled by AI, are you as destroyer player ride allong with convoy for 6knots?, come on, player want action...

All convoys will be controled by AI, but if you had a call for aid from a convoy and you're close, than you might help the AI Destroyer to bomb the U-boots...

I didn't say, there will be 8 U-boots ready to engage the convoy, that would be overkill, as i said..

1 U Boot Minerlayer
1 U boot Milkcow
2 Regular U boot player
1 Destroyer player...

For the allies, if the allies didn't have a milkcow, than they might comes up with

1 minerlayer
3 regular submarines
1 destroyer...

as long 5 vs 5

Remember as now in SHIII, you will have to proceed to grid XX to earn reown, than after 24hours patroling another reown, after that choose ya destination...

If you as VII player want to go all the way to NY and halfway you refuel by a milkcow, it will cost you 500 reown..., so make sure you torp some ships before you ring your co-mate that plays for milkcow to aid you for any service..(NOTHING IS FREE IN THIS WORLD)..

The point is, as long you have fun online with ya co-buddies, TEAMWORK is the key....
And if no one want to play milkcow or minelayer or destroyer fine..
than 5 U boots vs you apponent, but they all have to reach there grid whatever the mission told you, before you do the rest...

The reason why 5 vs 5, keep it small, no lag problem...

Perhaps a persistent multi-player match on a server so that players could join whenever they can. Unfortunately you cant save a MP game.

Perhaps help the guys at Danger from the Deep and build a new game. Its open source.

Or maybe the dynamic campaign that is in SH3 could be hosted online by some master server so those who want to do the campaign online can do it, but it would also be more realistic...
