Noticed there hasn't been much mention about this show. Although I know a few subsimmers that are watching it, or will once it makes it's way across the pond.

If you are American(only place you can view it at the moment), receive AMC, and are interested in Zombies, or really good shows you should definitely check it out.

The first season is currently on Episode 3. And I have to say I love the show. One of the few shows I watch.

While Season 1 is only 6 episodes, season 2 has been given the green light and is 13 episodes long.

I've been keeping up with the series, although I forgot about last night's episode. I never read the comic but so far I'm liking it.

It's on in the UK as well - just seen episode 2 - pretty good - although I still find it weird to hear Andrew Lincoln speaking with a US accent!

That, and the fact that AMC usually makes good shows. They brag about how Madmen has won awards for so many years in a row and what not.

We're inundated with reality TV shows too. I'm rather sick of them myself.

Then it would be called "the walking stupid"

I think that if we could elect dead people and have them serve in Congress, there might be an advantage. :yep:

Filibusters would either be very short or very long depending on the interpretation of the rules.

I have the Zombie Survival Guide which is a fun read. I liked the 1968 Night of the Living Dead. The Walking Dead however it is rather boring. No matter what might be going on between the cast, shooting zombies in the head overwhelms anything and everything else in of the show. I can only take so much of that.

First episode; head shots, head shots while escaping, horse gets eaten, more head shots

Second episode; head shots, trapped in a tank, head shots, and more head shots while escaping.

3rd episode?; I'm done with it, I had to ask myself what in the world am I watching this for?

I haven't seen Rubicon, but the commercials seem interesting.

The Killing which is going to air in 2011 looks like it's going to be good.

I was interested until others stopped playing, or the games held when i was at work. I enjoy the tactics and teamwork aspect of it. Providing new flow through ventilation on zombies is just icing on the cake.

Great, thanks for the reminder! This is exactly for my generation who grew up with the first wave of zombie flics!

The show has also already started in Germany on Foxchannel - already dubbed. This is quite a novelty that an US series starts in countries outside North America at the same time. Do the networks finally make some smart decisions? :o:o:o

This is an old thread but it seems The Walking Dead has become quite a success. I never even knew about the comic books it was based on and recently got the first compendium off amazon. Pretty good deal at less then half the price at any bookstore I've seen plus free shipping. Anyway, just wondering if more of you are watching it. I haven't seen every episode but I can see this lasting for quite awhile and wouldn't be surprised to see some type of spin-off series. You know how they like to milk a good thing.

I thought it was alright...

Although, I will admit, I've been kind of disappointed with the direction the show as taken. My favorite episodes where ones where the loneliness of the empty world was explored, and survival through migration was key. Or even setting up camp somewhere in the wilderness...

My least favorite where with people arguing, Rick seeing things, etc. I know that such a situation would take a toll, but watching people emote for an hour or argue over fairly clear choices runs old.

Still, it's one of the best shows on television, so I'll keep watching.

FTFY

I'm really bored of Rick too. He needs to snap out of it or be put down. But I've yet to watch S3 Ep 15 and 16 so he may do. :hmmm:

I thought they were better moving from place to place, the helicopter crash earlier in S3 proved that there was somewhere to go but they'll never find it in either the prison or Woodbury.

They're more or less generally following the storyline from the comics. Without giving anything away, they will eventually move on from the prison.

I think the show has lost a little something from Season 1. Darabont knew how to tell a good story that kept you on the edge of your seat. Every episode brought something to the table.

I think the show has turned more into a character study. There are entire episodes where nothing really "happens." You have plenty of monologues and pensive looks and character development, and every show needs that, of course, but it seems to bog down the storyline at times. I understand the writers have to walk a tightrope between the folks who want gunfights and zombie guts and those that want complete fidelity to the comics and those that like more of the character driven story, but I think it's not as good of a show as it was. It's still a great show, but not as good as it was.

It may have been the Glen Mazzara influence. He kind of led the show into a monotonous storytelling path. Now that Scott Gimple (who wrote some of the better episodes of the show) has moved up to showrunner, maybe he'll kick the story into gear more.

And there's my nerdy, neckbeard-y rant on Walking Dead. :rotfl2:

Also - what the heck, AMC? How many commercials are you gonna cram into a one hour show!?

Also - what the heck, AMC? How many commercials are you gonna cram into a one hour show!? Heh, I bet they don't even consider the 200 Walking Dead-related items to be actual commercials. After the plugs for The Talking Dead, Walking Dead the video game, b&w Walking Dead marathon, etc., I'm shocked they can actually make money on the show.

Finally watched the last two shows of S3.

I look forward to S4 with the same expectations I had of 3.
