Is there one known even prototype?

I don't mean the big gauss gun(railgun) for the navy but rather infantry gauss rifle.

Or perhaps a gauss gun is under development for tanks :O:

I don't think the below demo was for the military but it's rather cool and the size of the weapon would put it into the rifle range well until you see the generator behind LOL

That's a home made version of it aye. Saw it before but the velocity is not that much.

Only thing close to a Gauss Gun I can think of what that German assault rifle from H&K that fired caseless ammo like the Pulse Rifles in Aliens. :hmmm:

No the M41 Pulse Rifle in Aliens didn't fire a beam it fired bullets and grenades. :damn:

The IRL weapon is called the HK G11

Bah! A gauss gun is not a railgun. A railgun is a railgun, a gauss gun is a coilgun. There's a difference in how they work.

As for military use of them, it's not been tried yet as far as I know. Don't think at the moment they would be superior to gunpowder-based weapons in any significant way.

PCMP and augmented battle dress. :shucks:

PGMP and Battledress are a "Little" bit of overkill ,but then again, for those moments where force is required then excessive force works ,Especally if its from an FGMP :03::D

Don't think at the moment they would be superior to gunpowder-based weapons in any significant way. For the infantry yes, but for the Navy and Artillery they could be devastating because those units can bring a power generator of some sort to provide exceptional range for the projectile.
