I did read in the swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet on tuesday November 9 2010 about a swedish submarine patrolling below the surface of the Baltic Sea. The remarkable point for me was that the submarine commander was a woman, Paula Wallenburg.

Norway, too, has had female CO's. Wouldn't surprise me if Sweden has had females in leading positions on their u-boats just as long as we have. That's Scandinavia for you.

There are currently two serving female Captains in the Royal Navy but both command surface ships...only a matter of time I should imagine.

It's only an easy way to get around the problem with mixed crews since the CO has his/hers personal cabin....:03:......

Yes, when do we get a male captain with an all female crew?

Sometimes things sound like a good idea when you first say it, but I personally would not want to be that captain.
