February 1943, NE of Scapa Flow. I get a radio message about a task force and I went for it. After sinking 2 warships things were good until some depthcharges destroyed my periscope, obs periscope and hydrophone.
Bad news when I realised that the bottom was at 80 meters (and awful crash and a "blow ballast" came next).
Is there any chance to aim or something or I just have to escape from that hell?

in an attacking sense you are no longer a u-boat, you could be a hero and continue with a view to attacking at night on the surface but......
your enemies will probably have radar and even the merchants have guns, so I would say there is absolutely no shame in heading for home and getting the boat patched up whilst you experience the local nighhtlife.
Good luck!

Other than hydrophones/UZO your pretty much handicapped....best return to base for repairs if and when you are able.

That`s right! maybe it was a poor decision to go on that situatuation in shallow waters. I don`t consider surface as an option, it would be a disaster.
So there`s no chance at all, that was my first thougt by the way :x.
Anyway thanks for the responses and that will be one more lesson for me :salute: .
Get you and your crew home for a well deserved rest and refit. It's possible to do it: I've brought home and blind and battered boat, one that couldn't even dive. It's a long and nervous trip; pray for fog and rain.

Talk about a death wish.
By early '43, when Sparks brings me a message about a task force anywhere, I take it and say "Excellent, return to your post!" Then I ball it up and eat it.

Very ballsy, you've done what you can Kaulen. Now get your boat and your men home for a refit and long bout of shore leave.
If the Allied ASW doesn't get you first, patience and determination will get you and your boat there given a bit of luck.

By November, 1943, survival is victory.
You were very brave or very foolish hitting that TF. Unless they were coming right for me and I was in perfect position, I'd probably let it go and find much easier pickings.
If you make it out of your jam, head home for repairs and live to fight another day. There is no shame in that.
