They'll have to fire everyone, lol. Or maybe only 80%.

Meh, someone new will step up. Rush Limbaugh's troubles opened the door for Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck in the radio mainstream. There is an enormous market for political vitriol.

why is this even an issue to them? Olbermann is opinion, right? They don't call his show "news" I assume.

And when he hired on he agreed to follow the rules.

No sympathy

Gotta play by the rules. He knew better and did it anyways. :nope: No sympathy indeed.

It wouldent have been so bad if he hadent had tried to position himself as 'neutral'. I mean why lie about it?

Olbermann went on to declare that he doesn't vote, claiming a link between a refusal to vote and being unbiased in covering politics: "I don't vote because I don't think I should have a rooting interest in the outcome of an election."

I agree, but do you really think none of them make any political contributions, even though we know from numerous studies that over 80% of reporters self-describe themselves as democrat" or other "left" affiliation?

I'm sure they do, but as the article says:

The contributions may have violated an NBC policy that requires employers of the news organization to obtain permission ahead of any political donations or activities that could be deemed as a conflict of interest. CNN institutes a similar policy.

Olbermann donated without obtaining the permission of his employer. The policy, evidently, is not new so NBC is in the right here.

I despise KO , realize he broke the rules and thus glad he has been punished. However, he should not lose his show over it, hopefully he is just suspended and will return.I enjoy watching his unfair, crazy Left wing moonbat rants and panels full of racists like Eugene Robinson and other moonbats he has as guest on a regular basis, provides a good laugh.

Suspending indefinitely does seem a bit harsh. I wonder if there is more to the story or whether he had a history of doing this?

Takeda Shingen
11-05-10, 05:08 PM
Yeah, the indefinite suspension thing makes me think that there may be a history of him being a loose canon in terms of following policy.

Well if you ever wanted a liberal leaning radio talk show he should be your man. He has the voice for it.

Put him on Air America..... oh wait :|\\

He is no better or worse than Beck or Limbaugh.

These are entertainers. People should watch them for entertainment purposes only. No one should be considering any of these actual authorities on political issues. :nope:

Least of all Beck. I think his best claim was when he said he held Washington's First Inaugural Address in his own hands and read it. And then he got dramatic and told about how moving it was (and yes, there were tears; lots and lots of tears).

I know what you mean. I certainly admire many of our nation's past leaders, but don't go as far to get choked up when reading Washington's Inagural Address or the Gettysburg Address, or what-have-you. I consider such displays to be empty, and frankly, tasteless theatrics.

"Oh spare me the theatrics!" came to mind when I saw Boehner break down in tears. We don't need crocodile tears, we don't need any tears at all. We need people in office who will quit screwing around with us and just do their jobs.

Exactly what I was thinking too. My second thought was to imagine the uproar on this forum if Nancy Pelosi had done it. But it was Boehner, so he gets a pass.

Boehner's reaction may have looked hokey but I think it was sincere. Men don't cry that easily.

But Boehner is Catholic and a smoker....so perhaps that is it.

this was just an attempt to gain interest in him to boost his pathetic ratings

does anyone really believe MSNBC or NBC even care of he donates to democrates? that policy is in place only to prevent any employee they have from donating to any republican or independent candidate running for office.

i mean really, keith oberman supports democrats :o OMG news at 11 lol

MSNBC is about to go off the air due to long term pathetic ratings and after losing money year after year they are desperate to try anything to improve ratings.

what do reality shows do when they need higher ratings? they create drama over some stupd rediculous BS and this stupidity seams to be just that.

Hey Hey Hey! He spent a lot of time practicing those tears. You think it is easy to cry live on camera?

Give the man some credit. Those were some well timed tears. :yep:

Don't be so cynical, they were real tears. The man catches a lot of flak but has lived the "American Dream" in the truest since so when it all hit him that he after many years will he most likely be Speaker of the House in addition to the emotion of knowing they can stop the crap thats been going on, it overwhelmed him.Rather wrong to assume they were fake.I am not an emotional person, honestly have no cried since I was in middle school except at a funeral, well after it but I would prob cry to if rose up from what he did to where is about to be.I will prob get a little misty eyed when I see Obama lose in 2012, tears of joy you know.

From the wiki on him, just the section on his early life.Matches up with other sources.

Boehner was born in Reading, Ohio (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Reading,_Ohio), the son of Mary Anne (née (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/N%C3%A9e) Hall) and Earl Henry Boehner, the second of twelve children in a German-Irish family.[2] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-2) He grew up in modest circumstances, having shared one bathroom with his dozen siblings in a two-bedroom house in Cincinnati. His parents slept on a pull-out couch.[3] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-abcnews1-3) He started working at his family's bar at age 8, a business founded by their grandfather Andy Boehner in 1938.[3] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-abcnews1-3) He has lived in Southwest Ohio his entire life. All but two of his siblings still live within a few miles of each other, two are unemployed and most of the others have blue-collar jobs.[4] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-4)
He graduated from Cincinnati Moeller High School (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Moeller_High_School) in 1968, when U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Vietnam_War) was at its peak. Boehner enlisted in the United States Navy (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/United_States_Navy) but was honorably discharged after eight weeks for medical reasons.[5] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-5) He earned his bachelor's degree (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Bachelor%27s_degree) in business from Xavier University in Cincinnati (http://www.subsim.com/wiki/Xavier_University_(Cincinnati)) in 1977, becoming the first person in his family to attend college, taking seven years as he held several jobs to pay for his education.[3] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-abcnews1-3) He subsequently accepted a position with Nucite Sales, a small sales business in the packaging and plastics industry, where he eventually became president of the firm.[6] (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/#cite_note-bio-6)

Yes, yes. I'm sure he grew up in a log cabin, learned to read and write by slate and couldn't lie about his father's apple tree. My point is that if someone on Team D had teared up like that, a huge number of you would be calling for his head.
