Greetings,
following my recent post about losing saved games I decided to uninstall everything and start again.

Removed SH3, GWX3.0 and SH3 Commander, checked and cleaned the registry and removed the saved folder from my C drive.

I,ve reinstalled SH3 from my DVD no problem there but now I can't patchto 1.4. I've d/l the EAMA DVD patch from the UBI site but when I try to 'run' it the following message appears;

"This program cannot update the installed version of Silent Hunter III EMEA DVD to v1.3 because of the following reason.
D:\SilentHunterIII\ data\Menu\en_help.txt:unkown version."
Don't know whether to laugh or cry

Did you delete the old UBI/SH3 folder from program files before the re-install ?.

You must delete the SH3 folder in your C\MyDocs and perform a registry clean.

There is a free trial version here: http://www.regvac.com/fregvac.htm

Greetings all

At last everything seems to be up and running. Just done a trial run OK and now to install SH3 Commander.

My heartfelt thanks to all those who nursed me through a difficult couple of days with your help and encouragement.

One final question. If things go down again should I install GWX3 and SH3 Commander into the same folder as SH3, which I have done at present or is it better to put them into a separate folder?

GWX3 will already be installed in whatever game folder you pointed it to when you installed it - so it is in your SH3 folder. The version of the game that was already in that folder has now been fully modded by GWX3.

I always install Commander in its own separate location, since in the event of having to uninstall and reinstall the game itself, Commander will not be affected by it.

I've had the same thing happening to me. In my case I had to turn off my antivirus to fix the issue. Don't ask me why but it's fixed the problem.

As previously stated, Commander is a standalone/separate piece of software....best put it in a folder of if its own and diiferent drive even, if you want. What is vitally important is that you direct it to your game installation directory, or it wouldn't work....obviously :doh::DL
