During my last patrol (July 20th to August 11th 1944) for the 7th/13th Flotilla my base at St.Nazaire was dissolved and I get a radio message "new base: Trondheim". Okay, sailed there, end patrol, all fine.

Now, a few minutes ago, I started another patrol (August 31th 1944) departing from Trondheim, BUT..

During the loading screen my Uboat evidently was beamed by Atlantians to 0"00' N / 0"00' W in the middle of the Gulf of Guinea, and I found myself floating some miles over the hidden Atlantis (or something) after the game loaded ...

Anyone encountered this bug ever before ? (GWX3.0, SH3 Commander)
Do I have to expect further problems / bugs (apart from the looooong way home :rotfl2: ) ?

This is a known issue, IIRC it's because something is making it impossible to properly "locate" you on the map at the start of the patrol, so it defaults to 0 latitude & 0 longitude putting you off the coast of Africa.

I believe it has something to do with being in a non-historical base and/or flotilla as indicated in this thread:

I know it's come up before in other discussions, someone should be along who knows the definitive answer.

This happened to me earlier in the war when I was transferred to a new base. I remember being off the Eastern coast of Africa then.

Yeah, it always seems to come up after someone's gone to a new base and started the next patrol from there. Do you remember how you "fixed" it? I always remember the problem but never the suggested solutions.

I want to say it's a matter of requesting a transfer to the new base you got sent to, or changing your status in Commander from "in another base" to "in home base" while you're actually there. But you'd have to be docked there in between patrols to do either of those things, so it would be a matter of either finishing the current patrol and trying to figure it out after you finish and go back, or of restarting the current patrol entirely. And that's if either one of those things is the solution, lol.

I wondered if it was going to happen to me when I changed from Willy to Lorient, but I was actually in base at Willy when the flotilla transfer date came and went, so I just left from there and returned to France and never had a problem. I wonder if it only happens when you get "transferred" while you're still at sea in the middle of a patrol? Or only with transfers to and from certain bases/flotillas?

The last time I had got this problem, I ended up somewhere near the Antartic region. This happened after I applied for transfer to a new base.

I solved this simply by exiting the game and then loading to a game before transfer, or by just making your way to your new port.

I know, this is not exactly a defined solution. However, believe the problem has something to do with the configuration of mods enabled, as some codes may conflict and over write, especially in super Mods like GWX, this does happen.

Shame that it doesn't make the Atlantis your home base, though making a surface ship doesn't exactly make for a proper home base I know a lot of people that use the supply ships exclusively until the bases in France are ready. Why not use the most successful surface vessel your supply ship (sucessful in terms of entire patrol history, Bismark made its mark in history but even with the Hood sinking didn't even equal half of what that Atlantis sunk during its operational career)?

I bit the bullet and steamed all the way from the equator to my assigned patrol area, ignored all possible targets on the way until I came to my Planquadrat, where I started to play as usual. After a decent patrol I docked again at Trondheim.

A few minutes ago I started the next patrol, and all seems fine, starting in the harbour of Trondheim, as it should be. No signs of beaming atlantians anymore :DL

Humm... Interesting, funny and serious thing at the same time, wow!
Sounds like GWX bug to me, although I have never met this before. Really, I'm curious if anyone has got a logical explenation how to try to avoid this, because it's too late now to correct that mistake, ha?

Nope not a GWX bug but more a case of the game engine getting a tad confused with dates being overwritten in more than one area/conflict.

Try going to your previous save (you should be making regular saves) and enter your new port.
