Newbie question about the nav map

I've heard you can change marker names, so instead of "Marker 2" you can have "Merchant" or "Winston Churchill's Schooner."

Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?

I've seen screen shots of custom edited markers...... I've wondered this too.

You can only do that inbetween saving a game and reloading. You'll have to edit the .map file of the particular savegame. Change the text "Mark X" to something else. Also the length of the text might be limited. Not sure how much. The external tool SH3Gen did this to provide some form of intelligence data.
