As long as the ban doesn't include my favorite "negative" ad of the season, which never fails to make me chuckle.

Three employees of some unnamed company - and apparently the only three people who work there - are standing around their office kvetching about how many jobs have been lost on the incumbent candidate's watch, and wondering aloud how long it will be before their own jobs are in jeopardy.

Meanwhile in the background, you can hear the phones on their desks ringing... and ringing... and ringing... and ringing... and none of them can be bothered to pick up a phone and answer it. Because they're all too busy standing around worrying about losing their jobs.

:har:

Hey, you know what might help you not lose your job? ACTUALLY DOING IT WHILE IT'S STILL THERE TO BE DONE, MORONS. :nope:

I consider myself moderate. I want the greatest possible change at all time. Because as a child I believe change is good.

My favorite around these parts was the 'Big Bad Debt' ad, complete with a butchered version of 'Big Bad John' playing in the background. It was awful. :haha:

Otherwise, I don't really hide the fact that my political views are fairly moderate when it comes to individual rights, and fairly radical (on the left side of things, that is) when it comes to macro-scale socioeconomics. But somehow that doesn't make me go rubbing cheap slogans and labels in people's faces all the time...

Seriously, have you ever thought about what any of those words actually mean?

Sledgehammer427

I'm to the point that I'm not going to vote for anyone because each campaign ad I see contradicts the other. I live in a TV Viewing area that covers both Iowa AND Illinois. So I get to see campaign ads for both. and they are all ridiculous.

Of course before anyone comments on that, you should be aware that just cuz I'm a pacifist it don't mean I won't kick your a$$.

I'm for:

Reason.
Honesty.
Integrity.

This unfortunately leaves me without much to vote for.

Against:

Anyone who believes that he has the right to save me from myself, or do anything "for my own good".
'Isms' of any kind.

but seriously though, I am sick of anti war,
So you're for war?

anti imperialism,
You're for imperialism?

anti capitalism
I won't argue with that, but a lot of it depends on how you define the term. I'm for a free market, but captitalism as a philosophy is less than ideal as far as I'm concerned. Don't get me wrong - so is every other 'ism' philosophy I've met.

don't those hippies know that the army are protecting there ungrateful asses?
Perhaps we have a different definition of "hippies". I protested against the Vietnam War. I went to Vietnam. I came back and protested some more. They were wrong to blame the men and women who fought there, because young people are often not ready to make the judgement calls required to go, or not go, but they were right to protest the government that sent us there in the first place, as the motives for that war are still questionable at best.

I have just as much respect for the boys who went to jail, or to Canada, as for the ones who went to Vietnam. Most of both did so based on their ideals, and most of both were willing to pay a price for those ideals.

Not all of us are ungrateful. Just call me a hippie warrior.

Personally, I am anti capitalism and *very* anti imperialism. I'm not necessarily anti war, although I do think that the amount of wars should be brought to an absolute minimum. That doesn't mean we should do everything to avoid them though. Sometimes a war is necessary.

And anyways, their parents were capitalist enough so that they have enough money to lead their anti capitalist lifestyleIn the Netherlands we are reasonably Socialistic, but we aren't poor at all.

This is an individual who starts threads so he can talk about how much time he spends trolling on other forums and how many false IDs he's created (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=1523107&postcount=12) for just that purpose. Can't imagine why anyone would assume he's any more "real" here than he is by his own admission anywhere else.

IMO the only thing to be taken less seriously than a troll is a troll who brags about what an awesome troll he is. :haha:

National unity does wonders to a country

Think about it, When a country is united, wars could be won, technology could be, the economy could develop. A weak country could become a world power

A country without unity is a recipe for disaster(Italy in WWII, Russia in WWI, america in Vietnam)

So...

1) Ban Hippies
2) God Is Dead
3) Big Brother
4) Create Army of Mindless Drones
5) Start War Against Everybody For Some Reason
6) National Unity
7) Win War Against Everybody For Some Reason
8) Global Empire
9) Army Of Mindless Drones Mindlessly Consume Everything For Some Reason And/Or National Unity
10) Gay Rights
11) ...
12) Profit?

That reminds me of that anecdote where the kaiser Wilhelm supposedly asked some Swiss general during a state visit and army parade how amy men he could mobilize in 24 hours, the answer was a million. Then the kaiser asked what would happen if he showed up with 5 million men tomorrow. The general answered, without even considering for a while: "All my men would fire five shots and go home."

I'm not a big fan of politics or politicians. Nothing ever seems to be for bettering the life of the common man. It is all about power. The parties bicker back and forth, control and lost and gained, and nothing ever really gets done. One party undoes what the other party did. Well, maybe not.. but in my opinion politicians are a different breed of people who don't care about anything but them getting power.

If you had to categorized me, I think communism is a great idea if it worked, but the fact is it doesn't. I am anti-captialism, and a bit of a hippie. I have been leaning more towards Primitive Anarchism, but I feel that Anarchism is just a immature teenagers idea to rebel from conventional society. I suppose I'm a fiscal conservative, and am nearly completely apathetic to social issues but I am very sensitive to respecting tradition and traditional values. I also believe that minimal government is good government.

However I am in favor of programs which can help our least fortunate by I believe that intensive steps should be taken to assure that those crutches never become full blown prosthetics.

And finally, like Steve, I have a deeply held belief that people should not be protected from the consequences of their own poor decision making.
