hi my fella Kaleuns,

these days i've been back to the venerable AotD and really enjoy the fun of Wolfpack Attack. But there is one thing haunted me enough which is the DD Sonar Ping. In AotD, the DD sonar ping will change their frequency when it hits your sub hull thus you could get the alert that you have been spotted by enemy sonar. But in the SH3, i could not find this helpful Sonar Effect which is very vital to a sub skipper to take necessary evasive maneuver. So here my question is: is this sonar effect in the AotD realistic in real life ASW or does the Great SH3 really miss that important sonar feaure?

thanx in advance

regards

In SH3 hearing the sonar ping does not automatically mean you have been detected but simply a case of you are being searched for.

thanx jimbuna

i am just curious about what the WWII sub skipper heard when the DD sonar ping hit the submarine hull and whether it sounded like the way in AotD or SHCE

thanx :salute:

I've never played AOTD but as I recall from other threads in the past from here it is a sound akin to gravel hitting tin.
