Why are they so damn sneaky?!

March 1940, found a beautiful convoy left virtually unescorted off the Portuguese coast. Sank both the Black Swans that were with it (did you know that a VIIB can out-turn a Black Swan whilst submerged?), surfaced and set to work shooting the ducks.

Unfortunately for me, there was an S-class sub hiding at the back of the convoy. The sly little sod started blasting away at me and scored a scary number of hits before I even realised where the shots were coming from. Worse, I thought my gunners could out-duel him.

I gave up after about ten hits on my poor old U-46, while the British boat merrily sailed away without a scratch. The schweinhund!

(still bagged some 45k tons - not a bad haul for an early war convoy - so I can't complain too much :D)

Your a sub, not a destroyer so best thing to do is to submerge when facing gunfire.

And such good shots!:damn:

I've been hit by S-boats from 6+ km away before my watch crew even spotted it. I even had to go on deck and do the "L-ock Magic X-Ray Vision" exploit just to see who was shooting at me. "S-boat, range 6xxx."

I won't lie to you. The (minor) damage was attributed to a drifting mine when I wrote up the patrol report. Because there are some things Uncle Karl does not need to know.

If we are able to get close enough to an S-class (without being asploded), will the crew greet us with a customary bayonet charge? :DL

Oh I wouldn't go so far as calling our American cousins 'bums' :hmmm:

We quite like them really....we did give them their country back to rule/govern on our behalf :smug:

Those badboys are patroling solo too. NW of Scotland AN21 I was giving crew a break from 15 seas and picked up a cotact on hydros.

Got ahead and laid a trap. 767 Tons :DL :woot:

They don't just run in convoys.
