Moral of story:
Don't buy kebabs from shady places
Apparently, those cheap kebabs are made in a factory and frozen
when demand is really high(especially in the summer) lamb prices will go up
Therefore, some smaller kebab factories in north eastern china would buy ferrets from ferret farms(who only need the ferret pelt) and make them into kebabs and sell them as lamb kebabs
Good thing that I've never eaten a kebab from a street side vendor
The dishonesty in the food industry in china scares me:eek:
good thing I moved away from china last year

The dishonesty in the food industry in china scares me:eek:
Not just in the Chinese industry. Sometimes I don't want to know any more what chemicals and "taste enhancers" I'm eating here with my food.:dead:

I have to say that I'd rather see the critters used for food if they're going to be killed anyway for their skins. Provided the meat is actually marketed as what it is, and not sold as something else to keep costs low at the expense of an unknowing consumer.
In a somewhat (okay, barely :O:) related story I'm reminded of when I used to work at a vet clinic where we almost always had sick and recovering dogs and cats, or the occasional boarded pet, staying in our kennels at the back of the surgery.
We were located in a strip mall. Our next-door neighbor was a Chinese restaurant. Their kitchen, of course, was at the back of the restaurant... one thin shared wall away from our kennels.
I often wondered if their dinner customers could hear the occasional plaintive bark or 'I-just-woke-up-from-surgery-and-am-not-a-happy-cat' me-yowl coming from what seemed to be the same general direction as their entrees did. :o

Yeah, it's called Gaegogi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_meat), but their not the only ones who eat Dog.
On a related note, I wonder what ferret tastes like. :hmmm: Not like im gonna go out looking for a ferret kabob, just a passing curioisty. Greasy? Like chicken? Pork? *shrug*.
