While reading a book entitled 'HMS Trenchant at war' in my cabin I noticed in the picture section numerous photographs of RN personnel in uniform. However, there seemed to be a mix of summer and winter rig going on. Such as white caps and black jackets/ jumpers etc. I know that in the 1950s the black headgear was abolished but these photos were taken in the 1940s. Was it common practice for this to happen? Also I have noticed in some pictures, ratings of both rigs lining up to recieve food from a chef.
