Weapon inflation, perverse warfare:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-11511886

I recall that the British Defence Ministry said within 48 hours after the hostilities had ended during the Kosovo war, that up to 90%, they said, of the the dropped anti-armour ammunition, has fallen for dummie tanks. The serbian corps back then retreated without noticable losses in armour and heavy weapons, and in a relatively intact condition - which made mockery of the intensity by which NATO air forces were attacking Serbian forces inside Kosovo.

It seems the russians are not perfecting the approach. :)

"I'm proud to be making entire rocket-launchers and tanks for our armed forces," says Lena, who is stitching a surface-to-air missile system.
"When you finish sewing them and you watch them being filled with air, it's so satisfying." :|\\

Was pleasantly surprised to see this thread as I am currently knitting my own full size aircraft carrier.

The British used this tactic in WWII, blow-up tanks etc.. even going so far as to setup dummy airstrip lights across the UK to confuse the german bombers. IIRC there was also an entire dummy landing flotilla used in the D-day landings.

Do they make inflatable Putin too?

Great idea imo just I hope they can also fool IR vision and radar!

There's a military dictum that says "All warfare is based on deception"...think the guy who coined it was Sun Mu umm maybe Sun Bu umm or something pronounced like that.

Back in the early days of the space age the Russians built inflatable submarine decoys to fool our satellites. We figured it out when after a bad storm one was bent in half. :DL

And after the landings there was the ghost army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_Army)

Amazing what you can do with some balloons ;)

There was also during the Luftwaffe bombing campaign of Britain, decoy towns and villages. Areas where lights were set up in the pattern of houses and lamps, obviously dimmed a bit so to not make it too obvious. The hope was that the Luftwaffe would lose their bearings during night flying and drop their bombs in the wrong places. Of course, it's a bit hard to decoy London... :hmmm:

And also, don't forget good old Rupert!

Because I thought it was inappropriate title.
I have my daughter hanging around when I'm looking at the forum and I am not prepared to to explain to her what blowjob means.

That's fair enough, but isn't the current title going to take some explaining too? :O:

Well I was asked this...Must stress the person was holding a hair dryer at the time. ;)

And considering I just had my hair washed it would make sense to dry it. :03:

A good way to make enemy expend Very expensive missiles and risk Airforce in usuless attacks :haha:

For example a inflatable Aircraft carrier can lure missiles in an attack and save the real one. :D
