It shouldn't be long now before the miners are rescued:

I wonder what the final conversation will be prior to their release? :hmmm:
"Okay lads, let's all remember this for next week: What happened in the mine, stays in the mine". :DL

Good to hear.
I posted on this when it first happened like a month ago its several pages back now.
Yea it should make for very interesting 'debriefings' and then fascinating interviews once they get rescued.

Since they never officially "clocked out", I wonder it they will get overtime. They certainly deserve it.
So far it looks like Chile handled this very well. :yeah:

The drill has broken through but there are still many risks/dangers to be considered:

IIRC it is an internationally accepted mining industry principle that miners trapped underground are on continuous pay until rescued.
I hope the Chilean authorities recognise said principle.

I did not know this. I am sure that if this were an American owned company, they would have been fired like DarkFish posted. :yep:

Could be a bit longer, as they have to line the shaft. They are hoping that it will be only the first hundred meters or so, but it may have to be lined the whole way. This would not be easy, as there is a bend in the shaft half way down.
They won't rush it now. they can't afford to stuff this chance up, as it would be a bitter blow to the miners and rescuers.

Surely not....no employer could be that insensitive and callous given the circumstances and worldwide media attention :o

Let's hope there are no earthquakes due.

I'm watching BBC America and they are live at the scene, looks like the rescue pods are being put into position to begin the rescue operation in... they're saying about two hours from now. They hope to have the first of the men out tonight. Pray, chant, burn incense, cross your fingers & toes, think good thoughts, whatever it is you do - it surely can't hurt. :yep:
burn incense:hmmm:
I think I will stick to praying!:yep:

Better behave yourselves, don't want your posts to get censered. Your accounts could go up in smoke.

Three? Good news!
Best thing is they are out before Christmas!
I bet they find life a new meaning after being trapped 700 meters below the ground for months!
Good news indeed!

I'll keep my fingers crossed that they all get out safe! And I hope they enjoy their first beers and smokes - that was what those heartless people from above refused to send them down! ;) (yes, yes, I know about the reasons, but it's cruel anyway!)
I hear the miners are arguing amongst themselves to be the last one out and therefore get the world record for being buried alive the longest.

This morning they were reporting that the miners' shift supervisor/leader will be the last one up, since he considers himself responsible for the rest of the men and will stay until everyone else is safely out.

I'd have thought the last one would be the one with the wife that has just met the girlfriend :o. If he's got any (in)sense he'll dig the other way!

Can't imagine what it must be like for them down below... after 70 days to be so close to getting out and having to watch that little cage crawl up and down.

In seriousness, the rescue effort was a job well done! I am sure they are glad to be back on the surface.
...and mistresses.
the wife didnt even show when he was brought out and is quoted saying that shes glad he's out but really ain't in the mood to see him
it was the mistress that hug him when he was back out

That's kind of sad isn't it? OTOH he did dig that hole himself. :hmmm::-?:har::oops:
Watched the first parts of the rescue live. It was certainly a nice story to cheer on. My own most memorable moment was actually seeing that capsule get into the mine with the rescuer for the first time. Gotta hand it to the miners for keeping it calm and professional then - no mad rush for the capsule, just a very professional greeting and chat with the new arrival :)
