Direct2Drive compatibility with mods?

Hey everyone,

I'm a very frequent browser/reader, but as I have no programing or texturing skills, not much of a contributor. I do think that y'all do incredible work.

That said, I didn't have a problem with silent hunter 3 or 4 when it came to direct2drive, but the silent hunter 5 direct 2 drive copy is version 1.0.5. Most of these mods claim that I need to be patched to version 1.2 or better. I have tried updating to 1.1, 1.2 all to no avail.

Is there a way to make the direct2drive version compatible with mods? I'll take any help that I can get, this game is nothing with out the all the life breathed into it by the modding community.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, I'm not sure what else to do.

Hi, i cant help you with d2d, but general speaking, as i use the steam version, its acually released patched 1.2, si i never had to patch it. It sounds very strange if d2d would not support 1.2 however, maybe you must contact them or ask for refund reallocate to steam? I know they nowadays work close together..

Modding steam version is as easy as any, just different paths to the sources

well, I doubt D2D will give me my money back lol. It would be nice, but I doubt it. IF anyone can help, or has any info on how to at least crack the D2D version so that it can be modified for mod use I would appreciate it!

I do have a legal copy, the crack is only so I can make it 1.2+ mod compatible. again any info would be useful!!

I fail to understand your problem. All that D2D is doing, is to sell downloadable version of various games, means they not provide the game box and cd/dvd. That's all, they are not like Steam who control you game settings and updates.

So just install the game, register and when you will start the game for the first time, it will update itself all alone. Simple as that.
