Apparently the British don't care about them. I was attacking a convoy last night, and had just finished getting all my targeting info on a large tanker. Then I remembered to check the flag, and noticed it was Norwegian. Luckily it's 1941, so they are allied.

I was sitting smack in the middle of the convoy, in between some of the lines about 1200m from the large tanker. I fired my salvo, and the popped another quick salvo at another tanker and dove to 100m at 2 knots.

The first salvo had two torpedoes and one of them hit the bow of the large tanker. The other salvo missed. The weird thing was that the British escorts left me alone. I had attacked this convoy once before from about 2500m out and 3 of them were on me like dogs after the first torpedoes went off. This time when I hit the Norwegian ship, they didn't even bother coming over. I went to the surface once on the external cam, and there was only one frigate chugging around between the boats, like he was searching. None of the rest of the escorts even came over.

Do the Brits care less about the allies? Or were they just not able to pick me up on the hydrophones because I was smack in the middle of the convoy?

1941?

IIRC Norway fell to the Germans in 1940, it was that debacle that saw Churchill get his Premiership.

No wonder they don't give a shiney one :hmmm:

Norway fell to the Germans in April of 40' during operation Narvik. Starting 4/13/40 they're listed as Axis enemies and you get credit for sinking their ships as allied rather than neutral (or friendly).

The escorts either didn't 'see' you given the parameters of their sensors or they were not crewed by veteran or elite status crews.

It is probably a case of being in the middle convoy does not trigger any of the side escorts to hunt for you, and the frigate was most likely the lead escort, which usually does come back hunting for the intruder. You also might have been far enough forward in the convoy that the rear escorts were not triggered to hunt for you either.
