Is anybody putting together a clan? Cause a sub with a huge-ass tank turret and treads on it would make a good logo. Kinda based on the Uboatwaffe war badge.

Lose the swastika, and maybe the eagle (He kinda looks cool though), make the boat bigger, lose the Turm, add a Turret, and treads where the keel/saddle tanks are. Or maybe make the turret with a turm. I know Dowly has a good hand when it comes to rendering those kinds of things.....

If your on the US Server you can stalk the Bay12 channel, not many people from Dwarf Fortress play it so its empty but I'm always in it when I'm on.

Also make sure your playing these next couple days, your first battle with each tank for the next couple days gets 5x XP.

Thanks to VE day special my T34-100 now is equipped with full 3 modules: Shell rammer, Improved ventilation, and Telescopic binocular. :up:

I'm keeping my T34-85/100. The reason I do not put the modules onto my T-43 though it already has a rammer on it, is because the T34-85/100 is a much better credit farmer.

Tiger II is awesome just don't let a fully upgraded T-44 or T-54 to run circles on you when you're alone.

On the T-54 I know I'd say it's probably the most fun tank in game though not by all means the strongest as it is just a medium.

Can't wait to actually get it.

Yes! I'm currently trying to get as much xp as possible so that i can unlock vehicles.

You do not need to speed crew training unless you plan to keep said vehicle. Then you max out the additional skills.

Also, its better when you elite a vehicle (have all of the modules unlocked) to keep it on gather free exp rather then accelerate crew. Once you get to T7 you should be looking at keeping the same crew.

Currently enjoying my Wespe 2, grinding that to the 7.6" gun, so i can 1-shot tier 1-3.
Also grinding Binocs for that to increase range.
Got camo and faster load times on.
Also doing some TK, with the Marder.
I'll stick with my German Boys, not sure yet which way i'll go, heavy tank i'd say next.

Update: I have my 7.6" gun for the Wespe now! Let the killing begin.
I'm going to never sell it, (Wespe) love playing it.
The Marder i'll keep as well, although the Wespe is getting all the gameplay atm.
I've heard the StuG is a nogo. Limited ammo, like 20 or something?

As for the Wespe, is there a way to increase the zoom capability?
i've got Coated optics on it and it doesn't really make any difference.
Missing something obviously here.
I'm switching btw the Marder and the Wespe, having a blast.

Well, I initially thought I was going to mainly play TDs so I grinded to Hetzer and am now 13k from the Stug.

The Marder is an AWESOME low tier Tank destroyer. One shotting KV2s with their huge ammo rack weakness is hella-fun with the last gun.
With the TDs I'd recommend (if you're focussing on Arty more) to get the Marder with the last 76mm gun with Camo Net Binocs and Vent. Also, if you get the Hetzer I'd recommend "hetzing" with the 105mm Gun with HE shells as you can one shot most Tier 1-5 and lay a pounding on heavies if the Match maker screw you. Finally, I've heard mixed reviews about that StuG. Some say its low armor and high speed can get you into trouble (but that just means the drivers crappy..). It has access to the amazing (for low tier) L/70 7.5cm gun as well as the 10.5cm gun that the Hetzer uses before it. To be completely honest, the pain in the German TD line doesn't start until you reach Jagdpanzer IV..

As for Arty, I'm not totally sure how Gun Laying drive works in regards to aim time. But as far as zoom goes, if you're in over head mode (Finger of God) then you can zoom in a little bit with the wheel of your mouse but thats it. Being patient and waiting for the circle to settle is all it really takes for arty.

Also, if you want to learn the mechanics in a less frustrating environment, I would reccomend grinding the Russian heavies first, because they are *marginally* easier to play then their German and American counter parts. That's just my opinion (I'm still doing German cause they're such damn sexy tanks!)

Yeah T-54 can be tough for lower tier mediums and even lower tier heavies.

I do a couple

USSR - Heavy (Currently a KV grinding to the KV-3)
USSR - Medium (Currently a A-20 grinding to the T-34)
GER - Tank Destroyer (Currently a StugIII grinding to the Jagdpanzer IV)+

My plans are to do a German Medium tank too and my goal would be a Panther.
then I have one more slot remaining but that's probally for the update that will introduce UK, Japan and France tanks to the game.

When first getting my T-54 I feel I resorted to safe playing. Mostly because I'm running stock T-54 with the handicap of the gun against high tier tanks and the high cost of running a tier 9 with standard account.

So I looked for way to get rid of my 'cowardice' somewhat.

And I applied this skin. It works. It has made me more care free.:DL

That 1 is a platoon number. They indicate people who are platooning together.

Here's my tech. need 500 EXP more to unlock Su-85 and I'm going to unlock the KV using free EXP once I got enough and once they are not needed to upgrade my T-54.

The KV, when i got it i played with it as stock straight away and made the stupid mistake of thinking i can start mixing it with tier 5 and up! Ha! Yea right. So i ground xp with my daily doubles and the rest with my Marder 2. Didn't take long for the 107mm gun to appear!

That will be the next tech line i will take. The T29 i've seen in the game kicks butt. Looks to be a good solid performer.

I know the feeling but I must say I don't do so bad in those high tier matches with my KV...I'm not a beast but I can be a pest :arrgh!:
shooting them to their sides and rear is going to be your best bet to do at least some damage to them and stick with you bigger teammates so you at least last a while.

The 76 on a KV-2 Turret! Oh dear! stupid actually the Turret doesn't provide you any advantage (no extra armor or visibility range) over the old one...it does however provide the enemy a nice place to pop shots at and they do hurt!

I know what you mean about matchmaking, although you are lucky there is only a 2 tier gap.
With me and the KV, it's a case of tier 5 (me) against tier 8's and 9's! Not pleasant let me tell you.
BTW got my 107mm and just got the 152mm which i'm trying out for fun and giggles.
1-shotting tier 5 and 6's, with some good and big critical hits on the tier 7 and 8's.

Well the KV is a tier 5 tank and arguably the strongest tier 5 tank.

Tier 5 tank will always make money no matter how you play the game.

So it is a fun tank which doesn't burden you with credit losses.

of course if you are trying to farm credits it may hurt a bit when you're making only a few k if you happen to play bad.


However playing tier 8 and above the stakes are high especially if you're playing with standard account which means half credit income and half XP.
The credit losses could amount to 20k for a bad game after repair and ammo.

So thus tier 8 and above is only fun when you're playing well and often that depends on your team mates and luck while tier 5 KV is always a fun tank to play.

I personally do not mind wallet warrior as hey it's their money and indeed premium tanks are good credit farmers.

One thing I understand is Lowe and KV-5 being premium tanks are a high tier tanks(tier 8) and they are very popular(well sold) which means now high tier matches are populated with many many Lowes especially.

Now high tier tanks are expected to contribute a significant portion to the team winning chance but because small number of players can't play them properly you get a lot of flaming on the whole Lowe players partly too because of the envy I'd assume.

I'd never call a Lowe player a wallet warrior nor do I hate them. However I do notice there's now a significant proliferation of Lowe tanks in every match which makes matches generally more difficult for non premium high tier tanks since Lowe is a tough one.

But it is also true that there are a lot of nasty people in WoT. Too many broken people in society.

The zoom works incredibly well, you can zoom in under the tracks at the right angle, or, you can zoom right out and get a bird's eye view of proceedings.

Theres a shot trap that will make the round bounce right into the front of their hull which kills the driver, possibly the ammo load, the transmission (ergo engine) and can also take out the turret ring if your lucky.

Have had a few hits like these and they're a pain in the arse.

It doesn't mean becoming like them though. I was merely suggesting to return the 'courtesy' so these kind of people know how it feels dealing with their own kind of personality. I am sure they don't like to deal with their own like personality. In short to play them.

It is also one of the reason to educate younger people(children) about these kind of people in the internet so that they understand and are not dragged into their level. It's best to limit their internet usage per day too until they are adult and can be trusted or have developed a character of their own.

When I make say 24,000 in my T-54 the repair and ammo replenishment would cost me 17-20,000. In the end I made just a few thousands.

As for steep learning curve.
The controls and general movements and how to shoot etc aren't hard to learn.
But as for ingame tactics, and general tactics of tanks, that's another story all together.
Each tank has a personality, if you will. They all handle differently, with each tank having their own strengths and weaknesses.
A good link to check out is the WoW forums, where guys post everything from tactics for different maps to tank tactics, technology tree progressions to modding:

You need to be patient with the game, you won't just all of a sudden be a Panzer Ace. You will grind xp and credits for furthering and unlocking new tanks to purchase and you will battle in all sorts of environments, from the desert, to the mountains and in the snow!
Learn the maps, study them, listen to your team mates, and most of all don't think you are invincible and invisible, somebody somewhere sees you!
Also, when upgrading or researching a tech tree, know what play style suits you, so that you don't waste precious xp and credits.
Example, do you want to snipe and kill and maim from a distance? Do you want to get up close and personal, shooting point blank range?
Do you want to shell enemies from afar via Artillery?
You have to be clear in your upgrade goals. If not, then you waste a lot of the xp.
By all means, experiment and try new tanks. That way you kill the monotonous grinding in just 1 type of tank.

Finally got my KV-3!

And not looking forward to being matched against tier 9 and 10's. I've heard that the KV-3 continuously gets matched in that bracket. The time for easy kills is almost over now.
The kv-3 is slower than the kv, although i gain hp due to it's extra armour.

Who here drives a Löwe?
I bought one the other day and have been playing it non-stop.
It's a rolling ATM on tracks, making on average anywhere from 35 to 60K Credits and approx. 300-1400 (highest so far) XP.
It has it's weak spots, but for grinding for my IS and i'm sure future upgrades it is getting me there very quickly.
Would be interested to see how you guys use it in battles.
I use mine as a Sniping vehicle at the outset of battle. Depending on how the battle progresses and unfolds, I either advance behind the first line and provide support to either soften up targets or to provide the killer blow, or, if the battle is not going well, stay in snipe mode, covering the base and/or arty.
The Löwe is not meant to be taken out solo, no way should you be caught out by yourself, you'll be toast very quickly.
It should also not be used to spearhead an assault.
I find that my method serves me fairly well, although i can write off some losses due to the incompetence of my team mates.
As Modules i have the spall liner, optics and gld mounted, with crew at 100% and learning repairs, fire in that order, and currently at 47%.
I'm loving the Löwe, this thing is a cash machine, and along with my Marder 2 will be in my garage, never to be sold.

I ask as im currently playing away with my BT-2 and am only picking up about 2,000 to 3,000 credits and about 150XP on a good battle.

Yes you get more credits with higher tier tanks though their shells and repair would cost you more as well. But overall you're making money faster with higher tier tanks.

150XP is low. So I guess you do get more XP in higher tier tanks but not as stark as the credit making difference.

The area where you generally make the most credits is in T-IV to T-VI where shell cost and repairs are low but credit making is still fairly high.

I had a noob call me gutless and that my grandmother could have more guts than me because in Sand River map i was perched on the top side with sniper mode right at start of battle, and he was pissed because i was camping and not heading the attack or rushing blindly, or rather lumbering blindly into an ambush right at the start of the battle! :haha:
He obviously has no clue about how to play a heavy, least of all the Löwe.

Might I ask what nation you're using Mr.Chris? If you like to sit back and snipe, I would definitely recommend the German Heavy line. The Vk3601H is an awesome machine with a set of accurate fast firing guns, it also pulls in some decent cash and exp. After that the Tiger I is a bit of a struggle (someone on the forums actually found driving backwards gave them more of an advantage.. if that doesn't show its gimpiness to the devs I don't know what will) and then its on to the superb Tiger II

Yep, been cuaght out by arty and not looking at mini map and suddenly i get concentrated fire from an enemy which appeared behind me. Wouldn't have been surprised if i looked on the mini.
In the heat of the battle it can go pear-shaped very quickly, due to not monitoring :haha:

The 6.6 patch is imminent, Russian servers live already, with the rest of us following, hopefully by tomorrow.
Although Devs have said 8th-12th.
So could be a few days yet.

I do, although i have installed a lot via manual, because a lot of the mods don't come with the proper folder structure included.
I'm starting to go through all my mods and giving them the right folder structure which inturn will make then jsgme compatible.

I've come to the point that I decide from now on I'm stopping grinding for any other tank. Simply due to the reason I've filled all my 5 slots with the tanks I'd like to have.

The tanks in my garage are: T-34, KV-1, T-34-85, T-44 and T-54.

Now I have 3 credit farmers which are the T-34, KV-1 and T-34-85.
These three will be used to finance my T-54 and T-44 runs. I'm not letting go of my T-44 simply because it is a fun tank and it is a waay cheaper to run than the T-54.

There are however other tanks that I'd like to have, they are IS-4, IS-7, Maus, Sherman, Tiger I and Panther. But the T-34 is already superior than the Sherman with the exception of gun depression and Tiger I is a post tier 5 liability in WoT with those crazy tanks it is pitted against while the Panther while pretty is also a post tier 5 tank.

Since I'm not going to pay for premium account and running those are expensive I can control my urge to go grinding for them. The little devil that say to you come on the IS-4 and IS-7 along with the Maus will dominate and thus fun to play while in reality you get upset losing so much money running them on standard. I can't foresee myself buying premium for life either. So I'm extremely happy to have settle with these 5. THANK YOU WoT for allowing me to play for free and indulge my tank enthusiasm with many other people online.

IS has terrific if not the best protection for its tier but don't let the powerful gun fool you. IS gun is not an accurate gun for sniping so IS is best suited as a medium to close range tank.

Yeah they are slow. But the KV is probably the best tank for its tier. Tier 5 always makes money no matter what. Second you do not need to put the tier 7 gun. If you prefer you can use the tier 5 76mm gun for better accuracy and avoiding the ridiculous and ungainly boxed turret which only adds weight to the tank while adding no enhanced protection, arguably even degrading the KV protection by making the turret an easy target to be hit.

Slowness means every feet you take is a strategic leap than a tactical one. I can go fro and back with my T-44 and T-54 but on the KV I must be wise where I want to go. If you are particularly lazy KV is a convenient tank too. If you choose your trails wisely the KV will not let you down. Even when you happen to be unlucky. Playing tier 5 is so carefree that they are very much enjoyable.

If you like mobility then medium is the line to go. But honestly WoT is a game for heavy tanks mostly because of the map is not that large. Soviet high tier heavies basically almost have the same level of mobility with most mediums. Their turret rotates fast as well so there's no way even for T-44 or T-54 to circle death them.

Don't fall into the trap of rushing through the tiers. You need to enjoy each tank you play for you to play better game. People who feel the rush to upgrade through tiers usually play badly in effect slowing their tier evolution. :DL. Enjoy every tank.

I understand what you mean about not seeming to progress, due to noob team members.
Yesterday I had a bad run of about 9 or 10 games where we got decimated in most of those games. People hanging back where in fact they should have moved up, pushed the flank attacks.
I was in my L°we with a couple of other heavies attacking and attempting to hold a flank against a couple of IS-4's, a IS 7 and a E-75. We got absolutely slaughtered, I looked on the mini map and screamed for support, firstly from arty and also noticed that 3 or 4 heavies had base-camped.
Needless to say I wasn't happy with the lack of team work there.
It seems very prevalent at the moment that players just really do not know how to play this game. And moreso do NOT play as a team. Point in case: Heavies rushing out to a position by themselves, Heavies base-camping when support is needed on a flank or the push up the middle, arty not supporting, perhaps too busy eating chips and watching youtube videos, Tank Destroyers moving up too quickly and being exposed or found in no cover, attempting to go head on with heavies.
All these, and of course people not knowing where the weak spots are on a tank, and shooting blindly into a tank and then wondering why a tank is not getting maimed and killed.
I had that 9 game losing streak yesterday, and really wondered if I was going to get my Tiger after all.
Things improved again, finally. Got some awesome match-ups, and in a few of the winning games we absolutely smashed the enemy forces, deploying what seemed like blitzkrieg tactics, leap-frogging down the flanks beautifully, all the while holding the middle ground and arty supported well and actually hit their targets!
But you guys, I have to admit, the most frustrating way to lose is when the team is going really really well and ahead on the score board, and lo and behold the base gets captured with absolutely no-one defending it! That to me is the most frustrating way of losing a match! I hate that.
On a side note, I have adjusted my play style for the Tiger 1, since it's armor is paper-thin.
I still need 1 engine upgrade to improve its mobility, the gun upgrade is almost complete, only the 8'8 (last tier) to go, but tactics for this tank are, even at fully upgraded, do NOT go head to head with other tanks! It is a good sniping tank, with its awesome 8'8 gun and mobility, it can also but ONLY support heavies and mediums from the second line.
NEVER should you attempt to go head to head with this tank against other heavies, and NEVER should you play peek a boo with other heavies.
Even mediums will go after you and take you on one on one, as the Tiger 1 has a reputation for thin armor and perhaps its all about the operator, how its used.
Which goes for every tank in game.
The cost of running the Tiger 1 is quiete expensive too, I find that my credits are halved pretty much all the time, with repairs and ammo.
I'm leaving it garaged at the moment until 1 more gun upgrade (final one) and final engine upgrade, then take it out for my daily doubles, and once I get the Tiger 2 I will sell it. No point in keeping it, as the Tiger 2 is supreme in every stat over the Tiger 1!

*about the tiger 2, The best gun isn't always the best gun. In alot of cases the KWK 43 is alot better than the 46. as you can get 4 shells for the 8.8, for the price of 1 shell for the 10.5.

All from other tanks, however, I think I'm going to split time grinding the turret and L/71 between it and my Lowe, then I'm doing a 64k grind through 3002DB to Panther. Hopefully I'll have both the Tiger and the Panther, as they were in WW2, in my garage by the time I leave back for school next Thursday.

Keep in mind that the video I posted is only a work in progress, just to show off the physics capabilities.
You won't be flying or turning 360 degrees, performing barrel rolls whilst shooting. I t looks awesome, word is if your tank rolls over, you will die, or if your tank lays on its side, etc etc.

As TaskForce said, stock is woeful, but that is like every tank stock.
Once you upgrade Maybach engine and upgrade to the long 8'8 gun, things are a little better in it.
I make a habit of not entering battle with a newly-bought tank, especially if I haven't any upgrades for it to mount prior.
I have a golden rule for newly-aquired tanks:
I'm playing heavies so this is most prevalent to them, but upgrade-wise, always always always upgrade gun. First and foremost.
Gun gun gun. Can't say it enough.

Actually, I'm doing quite well with the Short 88 (was used to it on my Vk before I used the Konisch). Had a few 1.4k exp games but most are in the 800-1k range.

The one thing I don't like about it atm is that I can't go hull down since I'm pretty sure my mantlet is weaker then my front glacis.

Edit: Currently at about 9k exp into it, have 2 more to the turret then I've got the Gun. If anyone wants to platoon up I'm online now

Bloody hell, I just had a match where a A-20 was right up my backside, when playing my Tiger 1. I was pot-shotting from the side of a cliff-face, with the chance of moving back and forth out and in from cover, like peek-a-boo.
Anyways, this retard A-20 came right up and stopped me from moving back. I lost 30% of my health. Asked him to move back he wouldnt. Asked him again, this time not so nicely, still no reply.
So, I swung my turret around and warned him i-ll 1-shot him. Still no reply, so I shot him, he shot back, only chipped the paint work, and I shot him again, killing him
/rant. Retards. :nope::nope::nope::nope::nope:

UPDATE: Less than 40 k for my KT!!! woohhooo. smashing this aweful grind.

EDIT: Just ran 3 games with this and what a Beauty to drive! The KT is actually considered to be the best tier 8 stock tank. I'm still looking at suspension, turret, engine and gun upgrade, in that order. But boy is this nice to drive. This is a keeper in my garage.

Also what is your overall Hit Rate Percentage? To total games played?
My Hit rate overall sits on 59% with 1223 games played.
I can usually tally up about 30K to 35K XP in a day's play.

It's funny, in the span of what would normally net me 10-25k last night I managed to get around 40k. Used free exp to go from Su-76 to the Su-85, get a fully elited Wespe (minus Hummel) and the other T2 SPG froms cratch, get an elited (minus Jpanther) Stug as well as the new tracks on my Tiger and finally got 4k from KV. Wow!

Now how come when I grind for the KT it seems to take so much longer :haha:

The KT drives pretty well, ofc the engine upgrades help. The KT has the best stock gun in tier 8! The 88mm is accurate and high rate of fire, however an upgrade is advisable due to better dps and pen.
Do yourself a favour and try the KT, you won't regret it, imo.

It's because you want it so bad that it seems twice as long for the grind. I must admit it's a horrendous grind from Tiger 1 to Tiger 2.
I smashed 44.5K XP today. It was productive. Tomorrow I'll grind another 30 to 40k xp and with that rate of progress I should have my E-75 by Friday at the latest.

My hit rate is 60% from 877 games played.
During the week i only get to play in the evening for say 4 to 5 hours but i usually rack up about 20-25k XP. At the weekends when i get to play more that goes up to 40-50k.

Am grinding towards the IS7, E100 and Maus at the moment. Still a long way off all 3. Should unlock the VK3601H tonight, am 20k XP off the Tiger P and finally am 72k XP off the IS3.

Just wished i had found this game sooner. I have become completely addicted and the wife hardly ever sees me any more.

Full told, I've got 2k to go till I get the Grille, 50k to Panther, 60k to KT, 20k to Slugger, as well as 20k to both Jgdpanzer IV and Su-100. So I've got my work set out for me when I get back.

It sure is. Its has enough front armour to bounce any gun (even the IS-7's S-30), and can pack a punch, although I only have the 120mm and not the 155mm. Only downside is its top speed of 13kph, but the best part of it has to be seeing T9/10 tanks backing up as fast as they can when they see me coming towards them:arrgh!:

She runs good, not as tough as Maus but can still take a fair beating. And yes I do have the 150mm (even though pic shows the 128, I now have the 150-cheated and used some free xp):D

E-100 is a lot more manoeuvrable than the Maus (top speed of 30kph), as for the "not as tough as a maus", I wouldn't know as I have never driven one.

As for guns, 128 is more accurate over 150, but the 150 is more fun - took an IS-4 down to 22% in ONE shot last night:D

Slowly been working up my tanks, but haven't been playing too much lately.
Did manage to get a good variety of tier5s for money making purposes though. However I am thinking about dropping the M7 so I can try out the Jumbo eventually. (Sadly you can't go to heavies from the light->Med. line on the USA line unlike the others)

KV-3 remains my Flagship...Err Flagtank.

As you can see I'm currently on premium which is because of an IGN promotion I managed to nab (Also came with a Russian M3 Stuart but I sold it)Allowing me to get a couple tank slots so i could resume my Arty line and have a few slots open for future endeavors.

Got a week off work. Trying to finish my grind to the Maus.
Well that is the challenge, just need another 85,000 XP to get to the VK4520P Ausf B. Have grinded 40,000 already today.
Already have Free XP saved up to fully upgrade it, then it will be a race to see if i can grind the 196,000 XP for the Maus before next Monday.
